Another stupid ?

You have a tie vote 2-2 or 1-1 on either the tree is o or + which is it ? I can not find it in the rule book, I have seen it somewere but can not find now. THANK

Posted by patches9452 on 05-30-2010 05:11 PM:

circle

got to have a majority to plus

Posted by Lee Currens Jr. on 05-30-2010 05:17 PM:

3a

Posted by Mark V. on 05-30-2010 06:11 PM:

I think it is circle but most all folks said to deleate it if you have i tie. I can't see where 3a tells weather to circle or deleate? I like to show them in writing where it says things in the book .

Posted by Lee Currens Jr. on 05-30-2010 08:03 PM:

what happens if you put 3a,5a together.
if its not + it cant be - you cant delete it.
the dogs are treed it happened

0, Delete would be on a 2-2 on a - or 0. imo

A tie vote goes to circle. You must have a majority vote to plus or minus. If it is a tie you circle. You can only delete points on certain situations. Scoring a tree is not a delete situation unless a dog is shut out on strike. Then you only delete the strike.

I agree with circle but I just prove my point.

Posted by on 05-30-2010 10:50 PM:

What point did you prove?

Mark, page 27 and 170 of the advisor deals with your question. So if it is not plussed or minused the only thing left is circled.Simple enough but it is in writing in the book.

Now ,the other thing that I get really upset about is how you other guys think that because you can not reach a conclusion the points get deleted.Wrong, Wrong, Wrong!!! This is the one of the most mis- used rules I see time and time again.

These are the times points get deleted.

1.Dogs going back to the same tree.
2.Tree points on coon caught on the ground.
3. dogs shut out on strike
4.Dogs getting on highway or other dangerous situations
5.If dogs are trailing when hunt time is out at the end of the hunt .{Not during the hunt.Those points would be minused}

Deleted points in that situation are a rule appllied in another KC.
The rules on the back of the card need clarified in this situation. It states that the judge is in charge of judging all situations. It states that it takes a majority vote to over turn a judges decision. A 2-2 vote does not over turn a judges decision, so it leads many people to believe that you would go with judge, or in other words the judge breaks the tie. Not the case.

[1] non-hunting judge.[2] by a majority of the cast when hunting
judge is used.[3] only one tree is counted even if more than 1
coon is up the tree. 3a
so i take it everybody is a judge with a equal vote.

I totaly agree with the circle points becouse I have seen it desided that way many times. We didn't really have any problems with this but I was asked after the hunt about it and I was the only one that hads the right answer, but I couldn't prove it in wrighting. Now this could come up in many cast why woudn't be more simple to find? THANKS all for your help!

Mark, considering how often this comes up on this board, maybe they SHOULD put it in the rule book under rule 5 Delete Points (i) "Tree points will be circled anytime you do not have a majority to plus or minus a tree" That would make it plain.

Funny thing is, in all the UKC casts I have been on in my time I have never seen this come up. I have never seen any judge or cast member try to delete a tree because of a tie vote. Like alot of rule questions, it only seems to come up on this board.
