I just have to give some UKC hunters in Rogersville TN Kudos tonight.
These guys will never tell it but Mr. James Owens and Kelsy Price of Rogersville coon club made the year for a young 17 year old boy suffering from Lukemia. They had never heard his name and didn't know him from Adam.
When he was asked from "Make a Wish" what he wished for all he wanted was to go coonhuntin and have a coondog. My neighbor who is related to the kid knew I coonhunted and asked if I knew where I could get him a dog, cheap. His family has spent lots of money for his treatments (just on trips to Memphis alone it's outrageous). I said I bet I could have one this week if I could talk to the folks in Rogersville coon club and asked what breed he wanted.
Well dang it he picked Walkers and not Black and Tans so I had to go to them to find one. I mentioned it to Mr. Owens, and asked if anyone had any good bred pups around as I had no intention of getting him a plug. He said "Yeah Jim, I do, he can have one of those in that pen right there". I tried to pay him for the dog, no. Absolutely not.
Come to find out he gave him a well trained 18 month old Walker out of his personal stock (one of two from his litter that he and Kelsy were keeping for themselves). The dog trees coons on it's own (I have hunted with this dog several times, he's a nice young hound), seems to be pretty clean except for an occasional possum, and gets the job done right.
Those two gave that kid the dog, no questions asked and he picked it up tonight. Not even a pup but a dog ready to hit the Nite Hunts that they had already turned down very good money for. They said he didn't need a pup, he needed somethin to hunt now and that left them with one too so they were all happy.
That young man was the happiest kid in the world thanks to two local guys that didn't ask for anything in return, only to see the kid smile.
All they asked of him was that if they ever wanted to get rid of the dog that he let them have it back.
We need more men in this World like that and I thought I would share it.
I hope and pray that that kid stays in remission and is happy with that dog and keeps him till he dies of old age.

Rip, thanks for sharing this. To many times you never hear the good things people do for others and expect nothing. Although I don't know the young man or the people who made sure he got his wish I would like to say THANK YOU!

Nice gift of the dog, Mr. James and Kelsey. I hope you receive great blessings for this fine deed of loving kindness. Prayers also for the young man that received the dog and good luck with him!! Thanks for sharing RIP!!
That was very kind of him to do that for that child. As a parent of a young child with cancer I know what he went thru. And also want to mention the thanks to Make a Wish they are a very good orginazation to support. They are very kind to alot of kids with cancer and other problems.
