To All Of Lil Red's Critic's!
Russ called me this morning to inform me that he has lost 2 of the best friends he ever had in the last month! Vannie Griggs passed away recently with very few ever acknowledging the loss through cards, or memmorials, & at 1:05 Am this morning, Russ watched Lil Red die before his eyes! He was making that notorious final turnout of the night! She trailed a coon up a ditch & headed for a road to the north, Russ drove around & when he saw that she was comming towards the road, got out & tried to warn a car that was traveling at a high rate of speed & the car literally threw her right past him without so much as slowing down!
Russ said it is like loosing one of his kids! He further stated that now those that for whatever reason chose to hate him or her for doing what they truly loved, can rest easy! She is no longer a threat to anyone! He also wanted to thank all those that were fans of his little "Red Dog" for cheering her on! We will never know if she would have impacted the breed through her offspring, but one thing is for sure! She made an impact in the few short months that she had in the competition world!
Rest in peace Lil Red! Some will truly miss you!
From Russ Bellar

Really hate to hear of his loss. She sure was a good one.
WOW
Got a knot in my gut. Devastating. Just don't have any other words come to mind. She did have a following, just not as loud as the nay sayers. I am so sorry.

Im sorry to hear that, good dogs are hard to come by...no matter the color.
Its seems so true that the great ones never live a full life. I am really sorry for Russ's loss. What a shame.

That's terrible. Based on his track record, he will have another big winner before long for people to poke holes in. Best of luck to them all going forward.
Sorry to hear this guys. Seems like the good ones always go first.
We are very saddened to hear this news. I hope that everyone involved in Lil Reds life will find some comfort.

I hate to hear this. I got the chance to judge her in the final four of the Grand American this year in pretty tough ground conditions and she did the job that night.
I have always been a fan of a COON DOG what ever the breed as long as they have the heart and I guess in the end that's what we remember of our hounds is how they tried to please us by doing what they were born to do.
Thinking of you,
Laird Thompson
hate to hear that.
