Starting a Dog ?

What was the latest you saw a dog started and still made a coon dog?

Our female had been messed with very lightly. I was in the Army and they kinda messed up my training time I thought I would have. She was 3 when we really started hunting her. She had been out a few times before though but not much. Although she is a little slower on picking things up, theres been a couple people who think she is gonna do good..they know a thing or two about dogs as well. But I will say this..my wife did a good job of keeping her in the woods when young and water. So she already had that going for her.

Is 3.5 years to old?

SEEN A AD IN COONER 1 TIME GUY SAID HE BOUGHT A DOG AT 6YRS OLD NEVER BEEN IN THE WOODS , STARTED HUNTING HIM AND HE TURNED OUT NICE I THINK HE WAS OUT OF THE HARRY x ABBY CROSS.

I'd start him like has a wee pup. By 6 months you should see a huge diff. in him.
I heard a story once of a dog bought of the chain. Dog been there for 4 years and never been hunted. Turned into one of top dogs in the nation. I don't remember the name. Somebody else might.
So go for it.
