What a day!!!!!!!!
We got 2.5" rain in 3 hours today. There is a county drain that runs between our house and the dog building out back. I got home after taking one of my sons to the orthodontis. Our back yard was completely under water. The culvert the drain empties into was plugged. Our dog building had 12" of water inside. THe dogs with barrel houses were dry. The barrels were floating when the dogs got out. The whelping box was a different matter.
I put on chest waders and took a garden rake out to unplug the culvert. The rake indicated that the water was about as deep as my eyes. Did manage to unplug the culvert and luckily the water drained enough That we could get the dogs back into their pens before dark.

i watched storm storys once when a 200# man got sucked through a 12 in culvert trying to do that and lived busted him up bad but still lived
I was very careful and remained up above and beyond the drain at all times, and I had back up there to help. Part of the problem was wildgrape vines. I was able to cut those without getting close to the drain and pulling them out. The drain is actually on a neighbor's property, but I am going to ask if I can help maintain the brush in the future.
I was just so glad to get the dog building emptied out. It was a strange sight to see all of our dog dishes floating down the creek.lol
