Ivermectin paste 1.87 %
Can this paste be used instead of the liquid solution for heartworm preventive and if so how much do you give a 50-60# hound? Thanks!
I used it years ago and didn't have any trouble with it , but I think its a little harder to get the right dosage. I think most of those tubes are for a 1500lbs horse and most guys give about 100 lbs worth to a dog , but thats not an exact science.
I think you can be more accurate with liquid Ivermec and use 1/10 of a CC for each 10 lbs of body weight. I've did this for many years and never had heartworms or a sick dog from it. A good rule of thumb is 1/2 CC for a grown coonhound once a month.

About the size of a pencil eraser is plenty, We have used both types
I use this in as close to a pencil eraser dose as I can figure. No more than two clicks on the plunger stop on the brand I buy. I alternate that with Equimax which as the pyrantel palmoate. No worms or heartworms yet after four years and she always looks fine after being dosed.
