Rule thread!!

I know its been brought up before but I'm doing it again

4 dog cast.... All dogs declared treed..You get to the tree and 2 are one great big tree..1 is on a small tree 10 foot away..1 is running back and forth between the 2..Treeing the whole time...The trees were scored as one..How is the dog going back and forth go? Remember..We didnt know it was going to be scored as one when we arrive..

If the judge made the determination that the trees were to be scored as one and the dogs nose didnt go to the groung id say plus em up and move on .

I have never felt a dog should be allowed to cover two trees even if they are scored as one but when this question came up before, Kellam stated that if both trees are scored as one tree, a dog can tree back and forth on both of them.

Well then he better tell his judges that at the ukc zone hunts I'd do like you Jim..If I went in and a dog was going back and forth..I'd minus it..I dont know its 2 trees untill we start the scoring..Then we are supposed to go back and UN MINUS the dog???????? Do we wait to minus on all close trees untill we see if they touch or not??? That dont make sence..

Since nobody wanted a split tree I assume there was only 1 coon seen and they were touching was why it was scored as 1 tree. The coon likely only climbed 1 of those trees so the dog moving back and forth SAID TO BE TREEING ALL THE TIME was no more wrong than at least 1 of the other dogs and maybe 2 of them. They elected to call it 1 tree so you'd have to score it as 1.

What if the trees are 60 feet apart..You walk up and see a hound running back and forth between the 2..I'm more than likely gonna minus the dog right off..So then when I see its actually one tree because they touch..I can go back on the scorecard and un minus the dog? I guess that why they make erasers

When it gets down to a one dog cast and he covers two trees 60 feet or way more apart? Happens to me every fall in the pecan orchard and live oak groves. Got a coon in both trees too. I guess he goes from being my best dog to minusing out. LOL

i had a bluetic female do that one night on top of a ridge,
time i got to her the fog was setting in.she would tree for a few minutes and the shut up and start treeing again about 100 feet away, got to her second tree about the time she was headed back to the first tree, saw the coon so i tied my lead strap to the tree to mark it and went to the dog on the other tree, while i was trying to find the coon the fog set in as i shot the coon to the dog,,put the dog on the extra lead and couldnt find the tree with the lead strap in it,was afraid the dog would take off and run another track but finnaly turned her loose and she went to the tree with the lead tied to it ,hooked her to the lead shot the coon to her and told her to load up and she lead me back to the van,,that was one smart dog,she died of old age at our house even when we had offers to buy her..those type dogs dont come along very often,
she would tell on a dog if it was running a deer, she would check the dog and if it was trashing on deer ,she would come back in and sit beside you and cock her head sideways and listen to the dog run the deer..the first time she did that i told my little brother to boot her out to the dog running the track and he informed me the other dog was running a deer and if i touched his dog we were going to go around,,lol,,a few minutes later the old b/t run a nice 8 point out in the hay field to us,,my little brother caught him and he (buck the b/t got the boot).buck only ran buck deer that were in rut which would been great except ohio didnt and still dont allow deer dogs durning deer season.
