We send prayers to the Griggs family and friends. We also send them for his hounds... look at the bond between man and hound in that beautiful picture. may all who knew him feel his presence in their hearts, Always....

I've spent many nights as a guest at the Grigg's house. Vannie "Pap" Griggs was like a father to me, and to many others

The picture above was taken at the AKC world hunt, where Vannie lived out a life long dream of being in the final four of a world hunt. I am happy to have been able to share that with him. He was as happy as I've ever seen him that night, even when the hour got him when Fancy (the dog in the picture) got into a nasty swamp and caught a coon.

I was one of the judges on that cast, and waded into the swamp and brought Fancy out to him after getting permission from the other cast members.

Vannie was a special person....a friend to all that knew him, and one of the best "dog men" in the country.

Rest in peace Pap! Keep Ole Jug Head, Buster and the rest of the gang tuned up and I'll be there in a while...we'll tree a few together....

Oh no, Vannie was the president of my coon club. I knew his wife was in bad health, but didn't know he was. Vannie was definatly a great guy. Straight shooter that would follow the rules to a T. He would look as hard for your coon as he would his. We are going to have some tough shoes to fill at the club. RIP old buddy.

I've hunted with Vannie many times his Love for coon hounds is matched only by his Love for his Family, I have sat and cried most of the day for the loss of a Very Good man, me and Chris his son will keep on hunting Fancy and her offspring knowing each time she trees Vannie will say Leon, Chris I think she bumped a oppossum, then laugh. I'll see you again Vannie tell my Mom I said you are a Coon hunting buddy of mine. P.S.
