response to sara jonas
Hello, thank you for your timely response. Here are a few more details in my situation. The previous owner of the Ch. APBT did not sell him to me, I adopted him.I was chosen because of my desire to show him. There is no written contract. This person is also active within the fancy, so I don't think I am being denied the papers for any underhanded reason; this person seems very nice. I dont want to give the impression that this person is dishonest or anything; maybe papers got lost, or something urgent is preventing this person from getting back to me.That being said, can this dog be registered to compete in performance events? The previous owner did not want him neutered, which is confusing about the whole registraton thing.I have no desire to stud him(which i cannot do anyway now) so should he be neutered?would I get in some kind of trouble if I did? Im interested in weight pull, agility, and obedience. What do you think i should do? may I compete in these events? Thanks for your help.....
First we need to get you those papers. My advice would be to contact the owner on record and keep "hounding" him/her for the papers. This is the only way that you can compete in events. Limited Privilege is not open to you since the dog is registered. If you were given the dog because the owner wanted it to be shown, then you should honor this contract. I would suggest that you do not spay or neuter the dog so can can meet the terms of your contract.
