kennal cough?

I havea ten month old pup he's fairly nice one problem I believe he has kennal cough I had the pup when he was 6 monthes old I sold him he looked kinda sick when I got rid of him I got him back 2 weeks ago and he was coughing a lot I gave him penicilion for 3 days stright he stopped coughin as much I was wondering what I could do to knock it out all the way when he bawls. He's really not loud at all really need something for him
