This would be a fair hunt

How many of you out there would like to see UCK Hunts be this way. When you go hunting, there was no buckets, everyone would have to hunt on netural ground, where no one in the cast has ever hunted. This would make it fair to everyone, instead of having to hunt with someone that judges the hunt. that takes his dogs out 3or 4 nights in a row and on buckets on his own huntng places. Then you would see who had coon dogs or bucket dogs. You might not see a lot of high scores but you would see who really had a real coon dog

I don't think "fair" is a goal of this game. Those who play the game better will win more often than not. If you want to win bad enough, beat the hustlers at their own game. To depend on the "stars lining up" tells me where the odds lay, and it sure ain't in the favor of those who believe it.

Have you guys ever been involved in the running of a nite hunt event or even been to one? Talk about unrealistic expectations, this is a whole new level.

Yup and yup. I think many folks are under the impression that the hunts and rules are put together to showcase the best dog. In their desire to make it "fair" they devise, as you said, unrealistic expectations. Its a game, nothing more and nothing less. Individual perceptions have a far greater impact on experiences than the actual hunt itself.

fair hunt

To Jim.
Yeah I have been hunting for about 50 years now. and done some comp hunting. just got back in it last year with my son. and the same old thing is still happening a bunch of bull. Any dummy knows if you drop a dog in the same places all the time over buckets that he will know just where to go when you cut them loose. There is just way to much buddy, buddy junk going on. I have seen it over and over. when you go to a hunt you see the same old people getting drawed out together. In their own class. Just last weekend went to a hunt at the local club. A guy need a win to nc his dog. a 4 dog cast. on the second drop 2 dogs withdrew and and the 4 was minused so much he couldn't win. One guy came to me and told me he had 550 plus and not one coon was seen. so tell me it's not a bunch of junk. and yeah he got his win to nc his dog. Yes I would like to see my son get some wins but it nees to be a fair hunt. If he gets beat fair he is man enough to admit it. But what good is there to have a grnite bucket dog. if you have to cheat to get it. Back when I was comp hunting we had no buckets we hunted mountian coons and you had better have a coon dog if you were going to tree.

bitch, my response was to your suggestion that all casts hunt ground they never hunted before and outlawing buckets. Great ideas that are totally impractical to actually put in place. The first one isn't even remotely doable. Why not make suggestions that are atleast possible?

I just can't stop shaking my head over this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think we need the smiley face that is banging itself against a wall in our choices of Smilies.

What I've seen is that people can't lose without looking for an excuse. I don't care what the hunt format is, it is not going to fix that.

You are CORRECT SIR!!!!!!!!
As long as there are people who LOSE there will be EXCUSES.

It's not possible hunting guides is the only thing that will make a hunt possible, getting a bad guide or hunting buckets is just luck of the draw.

what we need is affirmative action in the coonhunts. my dog is not good enough to win but should get the win because of that little handicap. Can't help herself she is a mini dachshund. She is undersized and has a little bitty mouth, Can't smell a bisquit but I really want her to be a Gr. Nite.

fair hunt

To people who thanks this is just a way to get a win. First of all I have a coon dog. and I sure don't need a bucket to tree a coon. If your dogs are so bad bring them down to Va and hunt the mountians. I don't mean little hills. Yeah I have a winner dog that is a grnite bucket dog.enough said. hehehehe.

Posted by english109 on 04-21-2010 06:21 PM:

funny how the ones complaining about the rules and way things are, are always the same people complaining while the ones who are winning are doing what it takes to win instead of sitting on their computer bit***** and making ignorant excuses why they cant win!

MAYBE YOU HAVE BEEN HUNTING 50 YEARS, BUT THE WORDING AND TONE OF YOUR POST MAKES YOU SOUND LIKE A 13 YEAR OLD I HUNTED WITH LAST WEEK. BY 13 YEAR OLD I MEAN A KID NOT DOG YEARS. YOU HAVE READ JUST ENOUGH ON THESE MESSAGE BOARDS TO THINK YOU HAVE ENOUGH WISDOM TO FIX ALL PROBLEMS. I NO MORE BELIEVE YOU HAVE BEEN TO A COMPETITION HUNT OR OWN A GRNTCH THAN I BELIEVE THE EARTH IS FLAT.

Then why did you quit long ago if it was so good then?

Suck it up, get a dog that can tree ANY kind of coon, QUICKER than the others and THEN go to a hunt.

The buckets won't matter for much more than boosting your score!

AHHHHH! Problem solved!
