you could trade that deer dog for a coon dog!!!sorry i know that was ugly

He aint a good dog if he's running a deer. Life is to short to chase these types of dogs around all night.

Try purposly turning him out on deer that cross the road. Be ready to run him down and beat him good if he takes off after them. If he's smart he will realize he doesn't want him doing that, if not get a new dog.

how much has he been exsposed to the right game?if alot and dog has been praised alot for doing good and he is still doing this after being shocked on deer alot sell or give away to a deer dogger they would love to have a dog like that put your time into another hound. this dog seems like he has chose his game if he never gos for your intended game after being exsposed.

have you showed this dog caged coon ? did he like it?did you praise him for liking it?this is part of the cure dogs got to have a reason to stop running deer in the first place training cant be all punishment im asking you this cause i dont have enough information to go on no offense but your thinking one dimensional got to give that dog a reason to like coon over deer ya definately dont want to run good dogs with him dogs pick up bad habits easier than good ones after you do a training session with a caged coon take him to where you think there are more coons than deer try hunting if he gets on a deer for sure shock him and take the dog back imediately to your caged coon and praise the hell out of him for showing interest in the coon maybe just maybe you can make a coondog out of this trash runner keep repeating the process since you have already decided to keep him plan on hunting alone cause nobody is gonna hunt with a dog like that and you cant blame them best i can do with what information ive read.

Dog Problem

Thanx for all the help

just keep turning him out on deer and correct him. he will stop eventually, then when you think he won't take them, turn him out with one that will and correct him again if he packs with the other dog..repetition over and over..

John Wick has a method I think in his book "Walking With Wick" on breaking a hard core deer runner. It requires a specially built cage and an electric fence charger and a weeks dedication. If that wont cure him then he is a cull.
