Hunt Tests?

What are the benefits, or purpose of the hunt test? I understand that you hunt your dog alone for an hour & all the requirements, but what good for, other then to say or show that your dog will hunt & tree a coon alone? Thanks!

I THINK IT WAS PUT IN PLACE BY UKC TO AWARD DOGS A TITLE THAT ARE OWNED BY PEOPLE THAT DO NOT COMP HUNT. AND THERE IS THE AGE OLD DEBATE THAT NOT ALL TITLED DOGS CAN TREE A COON ON THEIR OWN. THIS TITLE SHOWS YOUR DOG CAN TREE COONS ALONE AND ON A CONSISTANT BASIS. THERE ARE 20 THREADS ON THIS SUBJECT ON THE WEBSITE. JUST DO A SEARCH AND YOU CAN READ ALL THE OPINIONS POSTED GOOD AND BAD.
