Court results from the shooting of the co owned coonhound that I got shot in Sept.

The Defendant plead guitly to a plea bargain. They were 3 counts charged 1 count of a Class D felony, and 2 counts of class A misdemeanor. The following were the results of the plea bargain.

Plead guilty to 1 count Class A misdeamenor of Cruelty to Animal.
Count 2 class A misdeamenor and Count 1 Class D felony were dismissed by the state.

Defendant gets 363 days suspended jail time with 363 days probation. 164 dollar court cost and a one dollar $1 fine.

Resitution of the dog, vet bill and 2 days lost pay is $9509.80.

Coon hunters of Indiana support your Hoosier Tree Dog Alliance, HTDA is here for you the coon hunter. The first step in making a change is by you paying your dues and becoming a member. Without HTDA I would not have known how to handle the situation that happend. The evidence was very, very evident that the story from the defendant did not go along with the evidence story, thanks to the autopsy, x-rays, pictures of where dog laid in yard from where the defendant said he shot. In the picture you could see the gate and the tall grass that grew around the bottom of the gate with weeds entangled in it, the defendant said that he closed the gate, no way I could have the evidence that I had without knowing what to do and being prepared for the tragedy that happend. Needless to say, I am glad this is overwith and put behind us, I now have a half brother to the dog that was killed, he is 14 months old and showing alot of promise. Thanks to everyone that has wrote, called and shared with me. It does not bring back Banjo but it does help make a wrong a right and hopefully set a precedence for the future.

I'm real glade to see a fellow houndsman get justice for someone killing a hound for no reason other then just being a a$$. Sometimes though there is just not enough bold proof to get justice. Had it happen w/ hound shooting just few days after X mas. Never got justice. BUT so so so glade to see someone get it!!!!!

Hey Brad, great news. Although it does not bring your dog back, it sure will make that guy think twice about every coming out and shooting a dog and same goes for anyone that reads the article in the newspaper.

This is very good news. I wonder how much that guy dropped in legal fees. I bet twice as much as the restitution. And now he has a criminal record. Think he regrets shooting those dogs?

Thats what I was thinking plus if he should ever make that mistake again he would be in way over his head. I'd still be careful around him since he didn't show good sense to begin with.

Brad

Thats good news but I do believe that he should have served at least half of his sentence. The restitution was great but giving a turd some jail time will wake him up even more. Just my opinion.

THANK-YOU Brad ! for keeping calm and following the corect procedures to get this guy ! With your leadership and the great support of HTDA, maybe we can discourage people from doing this before they think! Good work and hope to see you at Walker Days next week!
