light and charger getting warm

I have never had a battery pack and a charger get warm when charging. I just got a new one and it does. Is this normal? The company says the charger is a smart charger but it does not have the light to indicate full charge so I am aprehensive to keep it on the charger for a long time especially when it gets warm.

Any info would help. Thanks.

I have a Bright Eyes 21 volt box light. Mine has a light on the charger that goes out when it is charged. However I never leave mine on the charger after it is charged up. It might be ok top leave it on and may be the proper way to do it but I never do. But to answer your question -- I can feel a slight warmness to the charger but nothing on the battery itself. What does your instruction manual say about this? I have some other equipment -- cordless drills and such that I just leave on 12 hrs and take off. The chargers warm up but not the drill or whatever.

....anyway I would think it would be ok for it to get warm but not hot.

I don't have the manual....darn the luck. It does get warm but it doesn't get hot. I just bought a smart charger with the the light to show it is charged just for my peace of mind.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I appreciate the help, Ron
