Tailgate Adventures Ending

Well, it has been an exciting ride, but the last airing of Season I will be this Sunday at 6:00 PM EDT. For those that have not yet caught it, it's on ICTV, channel 230 on Dish and 86 and 344 on DirecTV. If you have satellite you should have it.

We truly enjoyed putting it together and appreciated all of the support and feedback. If you haven't had a chance yet, please let our sponsors know you appreciated what they did to bring Hounds and Tree Dogs to National Television. We couldn't have done it without them. For Season I, that included:

F&T's Trading Post, Canine Classic Dog Boxes, Blazer Lights, Ultra Advantage Dog Food, Coon Potion, TekTray. Dan's Hunting Gear, Tri-Tronics and L.L. Telemetry.

And these Kennel Owners:

Joe Newlin, Mike Chirico, Travis Stirek, Wesley Sanford, Larry Weaver, Mike Yates, Curt Ahring and Brian Linnemeyer.

If you don't want this to be our last season, please send interested sponsors our way. We still need a few more to start filming Season II.

Let's keep hounds and tree dogs and our great sport and pastime on TV!

Can I offer my honest opinion with out hard feelings? I think the mistake you guys may be making is limiting your search for sponsors to what may be small "mom and pop" operations that may not have a lot of extra money for advertising. I love my Dan's products but is it a big enough operation to be able to afford much advertising? You fellows needed to go after the big corporations that have huge advertising budgets. I mean every coon hunter needs a truck to hunt out of. Every bear hunter needs a gun to shoot with. Every beagler needs ammunition. Heck, you guys sometime hunt with bows, maybe you could find a sponsor with a bow manufacturer. You guys use camcorders, I would bet Sony or Cannon would want hunters to carry their products and hunters to video or photo their hunts with their products. Some of these corporations that provide these tools hunters need could possibly sponsor your show. Your show's advertising their products would be pocket change to them and their advertising budgets. Sure, you may get turned down by some, maybe most of them, but 1 or 2 hits would keep you guys in buisiness. If you had better sonsors, you could probably go to better networks like the Outdoor Channel or VS network. You guys may be thinking too small. Dare to think big. Look at some of the sponsors some of the popular fishing shows get and transfer them to hunters. Old Bill Dance or Jimmy Houston gets big corporations to sponsor their shows. They make lots of money with their shows.

And, in case you might ask, I am not looking for a job. I hunt and fish every day and plan to keep it that way. I am just offering my opinion in hopes your show stays in buisiness.

I TRULY ENJOYED THE SHOW,AM I MISS UNDERSTANDING OR IS IT NOT COMING BACK AFTER SEASON ONE????????????????

Posted by deschmidt27 on 03-24-2010 11:20 PM:

Lakeland - You are absolutely right, but trust me I've been on the phone countless hours with LA, Detroit and New York talking to the ad agencies that represent Toyota, Ford, Dodge, Polaris, Kawasaki, Remington, Garmin, etc. etc. etc.

Heck, I've even contacted Jim Beam, Superlift, Autozone or any other company that I thought may be interested in our viewers. The problem is that everyone's budget is tight, and no matter how cheap we are compared to Michael Waddel, we would be taking away from those monies that could be spent elsewhere.

We're a sizeable market that is neglected in advertising, but we're also new and different and that doesn't go over well in today's economy.

No offense taken or hard feelings...

Dave

owlholler - right now we don't have enough sponsorship to kick-off Season II, so the future is unknown, unless more sponsors come on board.

Currently we have signed: UKC, K-Lights, Ultra Advantage Dog Food, and Dan's Hunting Gear. But we need a title sponsor and at least one or two more to start filming.

What about Black Gold dog food? Ya'll talked to them for alittle money? You need a phone num let me know.

I love the show, but obviously i cannot put up big $ to sponsor...just curious, if a large number of us on the message boards were to go to your website and join the fan club for 24.99 (lets say 200 of us so thats close to $5k) would that make a difference at all....I would be willing to do that much to keep it on the air.....

GA DAWG - Black Gold isn't interested...

Chris - We're looking at around $40,000 to just cover air time costs to the network, much less production costs, travel, etc. With that said, every little bit does help cover costs and allows for a better production representing our sport. The TGA Club Membership was created for the very purpose of letting folks like yourself help support the show. Your contribution and others would be very much appreciated.

The other options are the Kennel and Premium Kennel Sponsorships, which are around the same cost as magazine ads.

Yes, yes, yes.... turned down by all of them and then some.

AKC, NKC, PKC, ACHA are all not interested. Purina can't seem to figure out what they want to do. The NRA and Nite Lite won't return a message and Cabelas wants us to get back with them at their next fiscal year. Etc, Etc, Etc.

We haven't given up... we continue to beat the bushes and have already beaten the tar out of most of them.

Posted by Oak Ridge on 03-28-2010 06:25 PM:

Folks these are all great ideas....

But we can call, we can work hard at trying to get one or two or three of these great sponsors on board. But what will really make the difference is if YOU the viewers would contact these very companies, registries, and organizations and tell them that you want their support....

Calling our current sponsors and making sure that you show your support for them, buying their products, or if you are going to order a new light, collar, lead, dog box...whatever...show your support of the show by contacting the current sponsors and buying from them.

They made the show possible....times are tough, and they spent their advertising dollar with us....now return the favor, they come back as sponsors and we have the ability to go forward!

What about you kennel and stud dog owners??? You're spending $300-400 on up, per month on magazine ads. Why not national television exposure? Give the folks something to watch and see in their breeding decisions...

It is strickly a numbers game to the big boys. Number of people veiwing compaired to dollars spent. So if we can get it back on for another season the BIG SELLING THING that sponsors look at is how many people they are reaching with there advertiseing dollar and how many of those are likely buyers......
So getting it on is one thing but we need to not have the cluster of nobody knowing were and win to find it for another thing. If it looks like it is going to make it on againe we need to work on advertiseing when, were, and how to set up there tv to auto. record it.................Word of mouth could help this situation more than anything else. Tell hunters, make flyers and put on computer every were you can. This will ensure it stays on better than any thing else. If enough people are watching it the sponsers will come to them.............after all they do it to make money. Not to do favors..............

We've talked to Garmin, but can't get them sold on it.

Yes, another season of exposure is definitely needed.

Posted by Ocmulgee Blue on 04-01-2010 02:27 PM:

Man this really stinks. I had to wait until Direct TV put the channel back on and I have recoreded every show. Its amazing but those advertisements work. Before watching the show I never heard of F & T's, rarely seen about Ultra Dog Food, knew about Blazer lights( but it makes me want to buy one from them for sponsoring). I will tell ya now I have checked them all out and looking into them for future use. Some of these companies need to step up. Specially Garmin..how many coon hunters are using their system now? You cannot go hunting and not see someone playing with it. I understand its hard to do but I hope TA returns. I plan on buying the DVDs when I get some extra cash. Hope that will help.

I do think the stud dog would be a nice advertisment. Maybe a little live footage of some for the advertisment. Let folks really see and hear that good ol stud dog.

Thanks Chris... you're right on track! The show doesn't exist without the sponsors, so we need to let them feel as appreciated as we are. And perhaps nudge those folks that are straddling the fence on sponsoring the show.

Also, some product sponsors are missing the boat, as we have started filming some episodes at risk, and of course they're missing the opportunity to showcase their products in those episodes.

Thanks!
Dave

Not sure who you talked to....but they do pose a problem in mid summer. Have your buddy give me a call at 260-901-9011 and we can discuss the options.

How bout some info for possible sponsors? Maybe enough people will email someone to the point of them seeing the light? Get the fired sparked. I dont think it can hurt for some of these companyies that need a bigger voice about it. How bout some email addresses and phone numbers? I would write/call if I knew I could get to who it mattered. I am sure alot of people would.
