Posted by HOBO on 03-16-2010 01:20 AM:

If a Master of Hounds lets you enter after deadline, he can get in trouble. :O

Deadline

Hey elvis I wish the would allow a 15 min time frame one the deadline like the other kc it would help the club plus people would not have to get in a hurry at the last min and get hurt jmo.

then you would get people showing up at 8:14

8:00 is 8:00 and unless it's a pretty big hunt i don't see why you would be standing in line. i know as a master of hounds, i felt it was my job to make sure the club had enough guides, pick what i felt where the best judges(with the help of the club) get cast drawn out nad placed in the woods in a timely matter. 95% of the people waiting last minute, are trying to avoid someone or someones dog, or if there is to much competition as in number of dogs don't sign up.

i agree with Wade. The last minute ones are normally standing around waiting to see how many they are hunting against, or who. There is one guy that comes to mind down here, always calling he is lost, or on the way etc...and you guessed it, in the other KC, the hunt is always held up, waiting on him. Guess what? He found out that didn't work to well in UKC, and was sent home, not once but twice. Amazing, he can now get there on time to a UKC hunt.

at a event at 7:55 i call out 5 mintues to deadline and at 8 pm i call out out dead line is closed, i'm guessing not many look at the seconds.

deadlines

Elvis, I am a MOH and if you are in the club filling out your entry when i close the entries you can get in. I f I have closed the enties as you come through the door then I can not let you in.[sorry thats the rules] I do know you get a lot of hunters that dont like the fact that when they are at a PKC or AKC hunt they have to wait. At my club i have got a lot of complaints about this. They have deadlines but do not inforce them. The bigest complaint is why isnt the hunt director taking entries?, Its 8:00PM and deadline was 7:00. Some stoped coming for that reason. hunt director playing cards or shooting the bull and they want to grt the show on the road. I for one am glad that UKC makes you stick to the deadlines. If i have to work the next day and they are always holding entries for someone I wouldnt like it a bit. It gets old and guys quit coming. Deadline is deadline and should be in all KC. JMO! Penny for thought!

If they are waiting at an AKC hunt they are breaking the rules. PKC is the only one that will allow you to enter after the deadline.

From what I've seen, I'd say you are late at 8:01.

If people can register late can I still tree my dog after the five or still get points for finding my coon after the shining time is up ?

Posted by copperheadcreek on 03-16-2010 01:45 PM:

this is a good post. if a deadline is at 8:00, then you are not late until 801.... being that 800 has 60 seconds until it is not 800. so if you walk in at 8:00:45 it is still 8:00 isnt it .... that is one of those common sence things ... imo

Deadlines

Elvis, Just some more to think about. I was at a club the MOH said entries closed. Right behind that [at once] man say wait cant i enter my dog?[He was coming through door when entries were closed]. All the hunters in the hunt said Oh let him in. The MOH did just that. One hunter lost his cast and didnt like how his hunt went so then he goes and calls UKC and files a complaint. Now the MOH has to play jump rope because of that. For one I fill UKC should of told the man too bad. Why? Thats the funny part! He waited till the next day and called UKC. The rules say you have 30 Min. from the end of event to file complaint. Gingo!!! His 30Min. was up. But they took the complaint the MOH Had to jump rope. Another one, You have four or five guys that drive to a club to hunt PKC [They come alot] they get tired of huntdirector playing cards and its 30 Min. to an hour after deadline before he ever starts taking enties. they get feed up and stop coming.Hmmmm! they have not been back. Thats not good for the clubs.[not when times are what they are today] Pro&cons Just something to think about. Been there done that! Im not picking sides i have seen all this happen. Thanks! Good hunting to you!

Elvis,

Deadline is 8 o'clock.

When the clock strikes 8 the Official should announce entries are closed. Anyone in line will be good. Otherwise, the entry should not be taken.

To clarify further; getting in line at 8:00:01 would be considered late.

Posted by Coonie on 03-16-2010 01:58 PM:

re

Copperheadcreeck, That would be a good question for PKC.LOL! bet that wont go far.

Posted by ysudep2 on 03-16-2010 02:02 PM:

I feel you are late as soon as it turns 8:01, it has bit me before, and I'm sure it will again. I don't like the idea of an extra 15 minutes either. Deadline is a deadline, I think its funny when people make an ass out of themselves arguing about being late.

I think that if you call the master of hounds and say ill be a few mitus late there is no reason why you should not be able to hunt its not like there holding you back from the woods most times it takes them a few mintus to make up the cast just say you have a reg or nite champ or grand nite and you wont slow things up one bit

the pressure is on the hunter not the club or the master of hounds, get there on time or go home it is always the same people and they are always giving the same excuse

Well Allen just gave an answer thsat is about as clear as it gets. When the clock strikes 8:00 entries are closed to anyone not in line. Purty simple.

I will take this one step further. It goes by the official clock, and not someone else's watch or cell phone.
