Jay, how about this for a press release? Let me know if the stated deadline and other details are good and I'll get it out.

Press Release - Great Northern Shootout Coon Hunt, Fort Ransom, ND

Jay Brademeyer, President ND CHA, announced a special hunt to be held May 15, 2010 at Fort Ransom, ND. The hunt is open to all persons interested in entering their coonhounds in a money hunt. The hunt is a fund raiser with net proceeds to be used for completion of construction of ND CHA’s new club building that is called the Sheyenne River Lodge in Fort Ransom.

The hunt is not sanctioned by any kennel club. Nevertheless, UKC rules and scorecards will be used to score the dogs and determine winners. Guns are not allowed and no raccoons will be killed. Dogs entered in the hunt need not be registered with any kennel club. The hunt format will be based on an initial round of hunting that will be two hours in duration. This initial round will determine the four dogs that hunt for cash prizes in a final one hour hunt.

The entry fee is $125 per dog, and a maximum of sixteen dogs will be entered. ND CHA will pay back a total of seventy-five percent of total entry fees to the four high scoring dogs. Based on sixteen dogs entered, the first place winner would receive $875, second place $300, third place $200 and fourth place $125. Entries will be taken the afternoon of the hunt with a deadline of 8:00 PM. Contact Jay Brademeyer for details, 701-308-0490.

I wouldn't say that were scared but a 125 dollar entry fee for a non sanctioned hunt is the scary part lol.

Its not a bad idea.

But here is the way Im seeing this.

Between gas and enty fees, the ONLY way I could come out ahead at all is to win it all, dont even have a chance at a yellow slip.

Not saying that it will but. The unsanctioned part leaves a lot of room for bad things to happen IMO.

Good luck with your hunt.

we have 8 entries so far.

That's what I was thinking too Josh.
I hope it turns out good though.

Gas always costs more then the entries. This might be the ony hunt the other way around. If I can find a ride over I will.

How's the coon population this year Jay? I know you're just getting into the swing of things this season but curious all the same what you've been seeing out there.

if i had a dog that could tree a coon i could tell you.. but with what i am hunting either they are vertually impossible to tree or there is none to tree.lol

You could be on to something Wade. Said another way, it's the generations of natural selection in the coon population caused by decades of hunting by the Brademeyers. In other words, the coons are evolving faster than the dogs and hunters! lol.

Posted by jay brademeyer on 03-25-2010 12:19 AM:

i hope that isn't the case

Well it is only a theory. But you have to wonder with all the pressure put on those coons if you're not having some some effect on them.

Rick dont tint his hound glases any darker. it will get ugly!
