Well...

Hunting around here's been tough! lol. There is sooooo much food out there for the coon, they dont have to move around alot, or bunch up at food sources like they have in years past!

Even our friends in Murphy, whose feeders we hunted at the hunt this weekend, said that the coon werent hitting the feeders much because they had so much food everywhere else to eat!

Out of all our hunting buddies, since season opened October 18th, I've heard about 8 coon being killed! That's it!

We've gotten 1, a buddy 1, and a group of hunters camped out for a week and got 2 and a few more that I cant remember.

The one that we killed had been eating acorns and pokeberries because we opened its stomach and looked, and MAN WAS IT EVER FAT!!!

We've also made quite a few den trees. Monday night, we road hunted a place called Berry Cove, and Skeeter struck, and treed, and when they got almost to the tree, the dogs would take off, Skeeter would squawl like she'd caught something on the ground, then it would tree again about 150-200 yards from where they started. It did this twice, and ended up in a legitimate den tree, and the holes were not huge, but big enough for a good sized coon, so we're guessing that it probably was a coon, but cant say for sure!!

I haven't been doing too well up here either. I can't pay for a good hunt, but most people who know me would probably say that is just Larry Luck.LOL

hunting here has been real good before the frost comes down. Then you may as well wait and give em time to run on top. Tuesday night ran a track/tracks in a 160 acre corn field for 3+ hours. Saw 8 coons sitting up all around the field. Season opens here Saturday night. We should be able to kill a bunch. Coons are so thick in spots here that we are starting to see disease spreading through them.

I'll post some pictures Monday, hopefully.

Well, its been pretty good,

But tonite, I planned to get in a quick hunt, before the Deer Hunters show up, for opening weekend,

Tonites hunt was not so great, First drop, the hounds got almost out of hearing, and treed on an honest Hollow Tree, then I led them back the way I came, and they struck a track, then Quit it, then as I started to load up, My older hound took off, got way down in the woods and struck a track, I cut my younger hound to him, and my younger hound pulled him off the tree, and when I got to them they were both digging in a hole, a few feet away from a creek bank. I have no Idea what was in the hole, but I bet it wasnt the Coon my hound had been treeing on. LOL

Some nites they both look like Awesome Coondogs, and some nites they look like the blind leading the blind. LOL

Didn't go tonight (Rain & Wind). Coons have been few and far between here in eastern Ky. There is so much food, they don't have to move far. You have to have a dog that will get out there and find em. No close huntin dogs around here. They just can't Get er Done!!

Hunting around here has been great

Looked at 7 Monday night. Tuesday looked at 3 on two drops. Wednesday had buddy hunt won it with 375+ on two trees seen 4 coons. Didn't hunt last night but will do the comp. thing tonight and tomorrow night and probably won't see a thing. Been treeing a lot of double's mostly kittens. Don't knock many out but my so called buddies around here are sure shooting the crap out of them and then pileing them up like cord wood in the woods I comp. hunt but hey I don't own the coons. Good hunting to everyone.
