Raisin Cane
I hear lots of good about this hound and he is no doubt a reproducer
at least on the one female
my question is why not put him in the hunts???????
I have wondered about that myself.

Well only Tony CLevenger is qualified to
properly answer this, but with that said I will give MY two cents worth.
Tony has been following some pretty nice bluedogs for quite awhile and has seen and hunted with alot of top dogs current and past.
As some noted on an earlier post his Elvis dog was said to be one fine hound. Elvis didnt bred a ton of females but produced some nice pups. Tony feels that Elvis could have been a top reproducer if he had been noticed.
Life experience has probably hardened Tony some and he figures that if they want it they will come and if not then it will be their loss. You would have to work hard to find another guy like Tony Clevenger I havent heard him once talk down about another man or his dog, and he wont talk his up, just the facts.
Tony is dealing with some health issues at the moment and I hope that he turns the curve for the better and comes into 2005 strong and fit.
Fellas you can sit and wonder on the side lines till the clock runs out but if you do I think you will be missing something that can help the team. Raising Cain(RC) is a coondog from coondog that are from families of reproducing coondogs and he is carrying on and showing that he two is a reproducer of coondog.
Not just ones that can tree a coon but the kind that heart, desire and ability. The RC x Jenny cross is throwing some tremendous tree dogs with mouths that can cover up most, a few more females have been bred to him this year-well bred coondog females. And we should know very soon just how he is going to be, time will tell but I would and probably will fade my bet on RC and Tony Clevenger!

WELL SAID ROB
TONY IS A FIRST CLASS GUY AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN HONEST ABOUT HIS HOUNDS , ELVIS WAS A FINE DOG AND WAS OVERLOOKED BY MANY INCLUDING ME AT THE TIME , HIS CAIN DOG IS DEFINATELY HELPING THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE BREED , HOPE HE DOESNT GO UNNOTICED BECAUSE HE DOESNT HAVE A TITLE , HOPEFULLY BY CHRISTMAS WE WILL HAVE A LITTER OF LITTLE CAINS HERE IN MISS .

Your so right about Tony. I have spoken with him a few times and see just likes a dog that can get it done and a lot of people over looked Elvis, Jack and Jim. all littermate brothers. Your right people will come if they want winners. Everyone is so hung up on the title of the dog anymore but it doesn't mean he produces any better than the Pr dog. Look at Chief he was only Nite ch but didn't stop him from being bred to. And every body has their own stories of the dogs but unless you have hunted them yourself more than one night it almost impossible to have a good opinion about any dog. I think RC will be a excellent producer of coondogs and that is what matters.
Good luck Tony with RC and Jaggs you know what it takes to have a coondog keep up the good work.
I don't doubt the dog being a fine hound
and I am sure Tony is a class act
I just don't understand not putting a title on a dog that is capable
YOU KNOW
IT IS EASY TO OVERLOOK A GOOD STUD WHEN THE STUDS SIRE IS STILL LIVING , ELVIS , JACK AND SLIM WERE OUT OF SCOUT , OLD SCOUT WAS THROWING SOME NICE HOUNDS AND PEOPLE WERE BREEDING FROM ALL OVER , ELVIS WAS JUST OVERLOOKED BECAUSE OF THAT FACT , THE CROSS OF RC/JENNY IS MAKING HISTORY RIGHT NOW , THE JAGGS DOG SHOULD GET LOTS OF FEMALES ONCE THE PURINA RACE IS OVER , HIS PUPS WILL DESERVE A LOT OF WATCHING .

RC
I was just up at Tony's a couple of weeks ago and bred my female to RC and just like you I asked Tony why he never put a title on the dog. He told me that they decided they were gonna put a title on him so they started hunting him getting him back in shape and one night he drove a stob through his chest. After that was healed they tried it one more time and about got him ran. he is throwing the kind of pups he is he don't care if he has a title or not and I would feel the same way. Just like Rob said. Never once while I was up there did I hear Tony try to blow any of his dogs up. He seems to just tell it like it is. Talk to him if you are curious about RC he will shoot it to you straight.

any one you turn loose is subject to get smooshed on the highway
I'm sure that thought crosses their mind everytime Jaggs is turned loose
but if Jaggs isn't too valueable to hunt then I don't understand not hunting RC
Johnson's Danny Boy was a well used stud for the walker breed years ago that never was titled
there was a reason though
That might be so Ritchie
But I do know one thing for sure, that of the dogs I have personally hunted with out of the RC x Jenny cross they have all the tools.
If RC x these other females proves to be as good, I know that if I owned say a top blue bitch that carries the same bloodline I would be headed his way at the first sign of swelling.
If your looking for tree power and mouth with all the goodies he will probably be able to give ya that, it unreal how loud some of them are.

If he was titled, I would have probably bred to him last time just on the reports of his pups from that one female
I am curious to see how the pups from other crosses turn out
Given Bits age
MIght that be taking a chance of waiting until these pups are old enough?
I believe you have made some good choices for studs on Bit and MY OPINION (which wont be a cup of joe without two bits) is that if you pass up RC because of his lack of titles then you may just lose out on what could be a history making cross.
I myself dont think that his not being titled would hurt the sell of your pups, I think his reproducing ability will bring enough to the table. JMO

I agree Rob
I a person can gets dogs like Jaggs, Logan, Sounder and the rest why not breed to the Roots (RC) instead of the branch. It seems like the foundation is what holds it all together. Jaggs may be a heck of a producer but who knows. What RC is throwing at least on the Jenny dogs is proven to be winners. RC and Rambo II females seem like a good marriage to me.
I believe Tony has a littemate to my Belle female ( Hornet X Bill female ) name is Bonnie that he bred to Jaggs I think they are cranking pretty good from what I hear.
Elmo I had heard that also
and I think that Jaggs will also do well in the pen.

TONY
WAS BREEDING A SISTER TO CLYDE TO JAGGS WHILE WE WERE THERE , I AM ANXIOUS TO SEE HOW THESE CROSSES TURN OUT . LONNIE UCHTMAN HAS A FEMALE OUT OF THE RC/JENNY CROSS , I ASSUME HE WILL CROSS ON HORNET WHEN SHE IS READY , I WOULD KEEP A EYE OUT FOR THAT CROSS TO HAPPEN .

boils down to coondogs ,or money ,me I just about give my pups away to the right people I am here to better the breed so who care if he is titled if he is throwing what you like plain and simple ,any body that doesnt breed to him because of the title thin is kind of a fool ,not trying to hurt any ones feeling ,but how these coondogs got here to where they are is breeding COONDOGS to COONDOGS ,not titles
In the same shoes, you ask why Pop a Top Again isn't being put in the hunts????????????????????????
He only has one litter and has thrown a pup that many say is extremely nice---even the walker guys in Oklahoma are talking about this pup---an accidental breeding
hmmmmm I think another got his start this way
How do I know RC is a coondog????
I don't really doubt it, but a title is some proof that the dog can at least tree a coon
although I have seen GrNiteCh that I thought were worthless
Go back and read what was written about Pop A Top and Pop A Top Again and then read all of this thread
All kind of silly HUH?
just having some fun
I can guarantee you that titles have never stopped me from breeding to a dog. If I had semen stored on some of the old ones that I followed as a young boy that belonged to Joe Johnson, I would definitely use it and most of them didn't have titles.
If I owned him I would put a title on him though. Especially since his son has proven to be such a world class hound.
why are you boys so worried about it who cares if he can tree a coon or not personaly all i would care about is he REPRODUCING OR NOT i would say there is no doubt
I knew what was going on
but still wanted to make sure that right information was handed out.
But I am serious Ritchie RC would be a good one to look at for Bit.

He is definitely at the top of the list
She only comes in once a year and usually right before the nationals. I have only got to hunt her in the nationals once and she had just went out of heat and looked like a durned idiot.
I want to finish her to Platinum Ch. After that breed her again.
I definitely think RC has something positive to add to the breed.
RC
I started RC as a pup and he was super nice at 7 mo old still have his mother here and she is in my book as good as it gets.RC has alot to offer in the stud pen am planing on breding a sister to pen to him in the near future.
