Dogs tail bleeding
Everytime i tie my dog back to a tree his tails starts to bleed. Is there anything I can put on it to help stop this? Thanks
tie him out from the tree farther. if he's tied close there's no way your gonna stop him from popping his tail.

It does happen a lot, it's because the dog has dry skin. It's no big deal but if you wanna do something about it you can give him a hunk of beef tallow everyday or a couple capfuls of veggie oil every day. Should help keep his skin and coat in a little better condition and he won't bleed everytime he whacks his tail against something or goes through a thick briar patch...

sulfadene
gary redd told me a few years ago to dip a dogs tail in sulfadene
"not sure of spelling"
but dip the dogs tail in it every day until it heals.
should take about 7-10 days but this stuff works great.
you can get it at walmart in the pet supply section.
and its not very high either.
you can mix it with iodine also and works just as well on hot spots.
TRY IT YOU WILL SEE FOR YOURSELF............................

sulfadine is used for hot spots. not sure how it would work. Bluekote works too but these are all remedies on how to heal it. it takes more than a couple days to heal a popped tail, so if your hunting alot it's gonna take a while to heal it. If a dog is hitting his tail against something hard it's gonna bleed eventually not because it has dry skin. i had to deal with 150 dogs a day for 3 years and i saw this ALOT!! it's really not a big deal. he's not gonna bleed to death.
