last night
me and a buddy went last night. he took his two walkers (Shaq- 6 yr old Boomerang- 14 mths) i took two of my black and tans (Cujoe- 20 mths, and Roxie-5 mths) it most definitely wasn't the best night, but, hopefully the dogs learned quite a bit. right off the bat, the dogs struck, shaq fell treed, then boomerang and cujoe split from him, roxie just stayed under our feet. boomerang was in a hole on a diller, cujoe outside backing him and shaq was slick. the dogs got the appropriate whippings and sent on. they strike, once again shaq finds the wood, cujoe split trees and boomerang bounces back and forth finally settling with cujoe, roxie is still under our feet. 20 yds apart and Cujoe has the meat.... ca ching.... we knock it out let em fight it roxie does a lot of smelling but thats it. we go on, cujoe, first strike first tree shaq splits.... POSSUM... once again shaq is slick....lol, the appropriate @$$whoopin and we load up go to another spot. dogs jump off the tailgate and strike in a pine/cane thicket just off a slough.. shaq and boomerang go left, cujoe right roxie still at my feet, shaq trees on a big gum on the edge of the slough, a split second later cujoe is hammering a 15 ft pine in the middle of the thicket. cujoe is closer and on our side of the water so we go to him, as we are going in boomerang pulls back to cujoe. we get there this old sow is on the top branch of the pine holding on for dear life... thomas leashes boomerang and cujoe and i shake her out, she hits the ground right in front of roxie, roxie runs up to sniff her and the coon squawls...THE FIGHT IS ON!!!! i grab roxie and pull her back, kick the coon and send it running, 10 yd headstart and roxie closes it in no time with cujoe and boom right behind her, they catch it and the fight is back on, before we can bust through the thicket they have it killed, we grab the dogs i rub the coon up a tree and hang it on a limb and a tree dog is born.... roxie hammers like she's been doing it for years... for me personally, that was the best possible note we could end on... true we had some bumps but all in all, i think it was a good night for the dogs, oh by the way.... shaq did finally have the meat in the big gum
