Sadie, Amazingly A Young Coon Dog

Yeah................ here I am again telling of this young high energy female. Where ever this hound has got what she has with her ability to do what now she is doing............. that some hounds don't learn until they get to be 5 or 6 years old. This young female is awesome on hunting, track, tree, and has become one of two of the better dogs ever I owned for obedience. Taking in consideration the make up of her bloodlines that being mostly Hammer hounds she has become one hound that anyone would be happy to own. Hammer, Spanky, Jet<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< HAMMER . A question of what to breed her to now has risen, and I need some input from you bluetickers that own or know of a hound that should cross well with her line............I will not expect a 100 percent success of a litter from her, and I know of none from any cross. We hear of this, but to my knowledge no one has ever proved a cross that all puppies made coon dogs........ if so where is such a cross ???????? Any suggestions would be so greatly appreciated............

Stylish Harry has two different all grand litters. I'd call that 100 percent success. Give that Blue bitch a little Stylish blood.

John

If you breed her to a bluetick,it would be inbreeding because all blueticks are hammer bred.Guess you'll have to breed to another breed to get a little out cross.

Mr. Vaught

I know you think I am just messing with you, but I am as serious
as a Judge. If you breed her to Hard Rock I want to book a pup.Or Harry either.

I have always heard Ole Harry went back to Hammer VIII. and come to think of it he has the Hammer style to him......... it would be a good choice bringing that Hammer blood back to a boil...........

John

That might work well.Or,maybe some Uchtman by way of Hammer III.

Posted by John Carroll on 11-01-2004 10:05 PM:

Wouldn't that be some Hammer III by way of Uchtman?

The Uchtman dogs, at least some of them, go back to Hammer III.

If this female doesn't win the world championship next year Hammerman ought to eat Warren Housler's shoe leather.

Dirtdevil, I will leave wining the world hunt to you. Warren Hasolers shoe leather ???????????/ Never owned but one Smokey River Hound, she didn't pan out here was a descent tree dog, but couldn't hear her......... nice looker Chief was her sire, and she was Grandaughter to Utchman's Hawk dog on her mother's side............ was given a pup from the Rattler dog once, and then the young man changed his mind, and kept it. I will remain a Hammer Hound lover until I do find one, or any that does any better here...........

About the cross that not all made coondogs. I can think of two.

Hoffmeisters Bomber X Moriettas Red Bell. Produced dogs like nt ch rowdy, and gr nt ch t top raven. And some more nt ch I cant think of.

What about the cross of Wilcox (i think) St. Nick. All five pups made dual grand nite. I would say they all were coondogs.

Doesnt happen not even close to every time, but it has happened. Now on what to breed your female to, I dont even have a good guess.

Sadie

John your Sadie female seems to have all the tools. I'm sure you will make the right decision on what Stud you will use for a future cross.
Good luck and keep Blue.

This should be Sadie.

Nice looking dogs John V

the dog on the tree is Sadie, The old dog is Jeanie goes back to Ranger II. through Ohio CB. Sadie is from Timm's Blue Trapper a son of Spanky, and her mother is from a Hammer X. female she is a granddaughter to Spanky, Hammer X. and Jet V.

That dog has feet like a coon itself and a mouth too short to belong to a hound ... must be part catahoula or heeler.

Posted by John Carroll on 11-03-2004 10:34 PM:

I thought she looked pretty good.

Dirtdevil you have had that old sorry stuff you hunt for years, and you are so used to looking at that crap its all you see when you do see a good looking hound. You should look at another breed for yourself any breed would be an improvement for you..........even a catahoula try one you might just become known as a coon hunter yet..........

Pathetic excuse , Hammerman. If she's any good she'll show up in the winners circle ... at least make it to the world hunt ....if we don't see her winning we'll know she's just a common old potlicker .

Posted by Rob Ellett on 11-04-2004 12:21 AM:

Come on John Ol Dirtdevil is just

giving what you have gave in the past,LOL. BUt she looks pretty good to me, heck I just call them swimming feet and to tell the truth I have seen better swimming feet.
Shoot Dirtdevil you every seen one of those little ol kitty footed dogs and an ol coon footed dog race up a muddy vetical bank?
I have, ol coon foot can get a better grip,LOL.

I have a dog here that maybe isnt coon footed but he sure wouldnt win a bench show with his front feet but I can road him 11 miles a day and not have a bit of problem. Do I wish he had better front feet? Well shot yes ZI do, would I get rid of him because of it? Shot no!!!
