DOG houses!!! need help
I am looking into buying or building dog houses for my place and was wondering how much people are spending on dog houses and how big do people pefer them to be?
thanks for the help and ideas
Randy
I take a 55 gallon plastic barrel, cut a entrance in one end, and make a wood pedestal to hold it. It doesn't get that cold here and they stay pretty cool in the summer.
I do like the whelping boxes with the flip up top and the divider, but i think they are over $250.00. When I start raising puppies, I will most likely make or buy one.

quote:I prefer wood as well. My dogs do too. However, you probably can buy one for what you spend making one yourself. I do not like Igloo dog houses. I make mind 30" X 30" floor size and 24" height with a removable top. Exterior plywood! You can see what they look like in this picture and make your own. They will last many years if built correctly.

I like the 55 gallon drums myself with the wood frame built around them. Warm weather they seem to enjoy laying on top so I made a platform for them. Has to be pretty ool for them to go inside or raining sideways.

Wood Dog Houses
We use wood also, they are probably 36" x 42" deep and 24" high. We buy wood lumber at auctions and always have enough for projects, last ten or twelve sheets of plywood we paid 2$ a sheet and actually built 5 more dog houses using that and scrap 2x4's.
auctions are the best way to buy lumber we bought 12-2x4x16's and two half sheets of plywood for 20$ saturday....
Wood Houses are the best and last a long time and are cheap this way.
