Bench Show Training

Anybody know of a thread or any information that can help me with bench show training?

OK, might be dumb questions, but

I have never seen or done this before.
1. How young do you start training a pup?
2. Do you give certain commands for the bench show?
Thanks, DJK

I like to start them early. Just dont expect to much. My best broke dog I started at 9 weeks. Just puttin her on the bench and moving feet that sort of thing. As far as commands STAY or STAND are my two. Go watch a few shows, thats how I got interested!!!!

Tara at about 10 weeks.

a few things that might help

1. go to a local show watch and ask questions

2. Look in the magazines and find a dog who captures your attention and try to copy his/her stance

3. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE

4. BE Patient

5. Lonnie Mears has a video on Bench Training

6. Show your dogs pic on here with you standing him/her on the bench and ask for advise

Hope some of this helps

hey im kinda new to all this too.. even the posting on the message board.. my husband is getting back into nite hunting and to kill time i try my hand at handling.. more just out of boredom but now im more interested. my biggest issue is with most of the hunting lines they dont have good tight feet.. are there anykind of vitamins for pups or training exercises i can try to help tighten up the feet on our hounds?

your comment made me chuckle!!!
feet issue could be breeding, could be environment - everyone has an opinion.

vit C is suggested to help the feet. it will not work overnight. I give 1000mg / day and dog calcium daily.
