single reg.

i have a dog that was ukc reg. when i got her the papers did not come with her. they were thrown away by previous owner. i am able to get the sire and dam's ukc number. my question is am i able to single reg. this dog or do i have to file for lost papers. i looked at a single reg. paper and it has area for sire and dam's number. any help would be appreciated thank you

Jessie, Once a dog has been UKC registered it CAN NOT be single reg. You need to have the PREVIOUS OWNER send in a duplicate regitration form, you can download and print one from the front page of this site, If you cant find it let me know I'll print one for you.

Same thing Scott said it's pretty easy UKC will help you, I went through the same thing about 3 months ago. The owner of the litter has to do it. As long as you have the parents #'s your ok, UKC has the litter on record as long as the litter was registered! If the original owner even just calls UKC they can do it over the phone, just have your info ready. hope this helps.

I believe it is ILLEGAL to sell a registered pup and with hold the papers. I would definately CALL UKC.
