Bunches of dogs for sale at Oaks
Went to Autumn Oaks for my first time.Boy was there a lot of people and even more dogs!Had a great time. There sure was a lot of dogs for sale that seemed to be priced awful cheap for what the owner said they was doing.Made me kind of wonder if they did just what thet was described to do. Would anybody buy a dog like that at Oaks? I just don't think I could. Now a young pup might be ok,and boy you could pick from about any kind of pup you'd want.Lots of pups, and some nice bred pups was priced pretty cheap. Some guys was even giving them away. Some guy had some english pups out of a dog called Little Bam or something like that that he tried to give me one cause he said he couldn't hardly sell them.I'd have took one,but they wasn't the best looking pups in the world.Saw other good bred pups and by the end of saturday they was getting cheap in price or free so the person wouldn't have to take them back home,so a guy might pick up a nice pup if you see what you want
Enjoyed looking at all the products for sale too! If it was related to coonhunting,it was for sale there.
Anyway, just wanted to say that I enjoyed my first Oaks experience and seeing all the people, stuff for sale, and dogs.I'll be back next year and might even try hunting. Thanks UKC for a great event.
ALL THOSE GOOD DOGS FOR SALE
ITS JUST A BIG DOG TRADERS MARKET UNDER THOSE SHEDS.........WHAT A MESS

Gonzo, I doubt if there were any Little Bam pups for sale at Autumn Oaks. And, no one would be giving them away. I would NEVER take a dog or a puppy and try to sell it at a place like that and I have a waiting list for my Little Bam pups. You better send me a deposit today!

if you want to see real dogs then go hunt with terry goforth. his dogs are far ahead of the others.

Got to talk to Terry Goforth also, he does seem to have some really nice dogs. And he had some really nice looking pups.
Gonzo, no way on buying a dog there. It sounded like a lot of 2000 dollar dogs for sale for 400, to good to be true usually is. I think I would buy a pup there, if I had some sort of backround on the seller, as it looked like alot of nice pups of all breeds and bloodlines.
Redtick, I don't know about free, but I did see some pups outa Little Bam at Autumn Oaks. For my part they looked as nice as any there. The bunch I seen had two different ages in the pen and I don't think both were outa Little Bam. I could be wrong on that though.
terry dog
MY BUDDY BRED HIS FEMALE TO THE TERRY DOG,SHE IS OUT OF BRIAR CREEK SNAKE AND THEM WHERE GOOD LOOKIN AND ACTING PUPS AND THEY SOLD FAST.
GARY
Not all but alot of the Big time breeders selling pups there need to invest a little money in some good puppy wormer. And there sure were some Bam puppies there for sale.

Would have to agree on the wormer part.
Just my opinion, but it seemed like some of those pups were awful young to be travelin' as far as some did, especially with the damp weather. Would that have been a concern to anyone else or not?
I think some of that has to do with the stress the dogs go thru riding that far. I see alot down here at the Grand American in February, at Orangeburg, SC.......Lots of wormy looking pups.........and my little girl always goes and always talks one of the breeders out of a pup..........

Ray,
I was at Oaks a little bit saturday afternoon.I'd have looked you up,but didn't know what ya looked like, and with all the people there it would have just been luck to find you.
There sure was some pups there out of Little Bam.Tim Holcom(not sure on spelling) had some out of different females I thought he said.Had red ones and blue ones and they looked ok to me and he did try to give me one,but I have a nice young male pup here now and didn't need another at this time.
There was some real young pups there still nursing on momma in one of them sheds. Why the heck would you haul them to Oaks and risk picking up any diseases and stuff like that?

If Tim had some pups there, I want to know if they were not well cared for. I will ask him about giving them away, I don't think would be that generous. The mothers he bred were both Bench Champions, one had a 1st and that was all the other needed, they were bred very well and carried the best of some of my favorite breeding, and I believe Tim will make a Nite Champion out of 1 and possibly make a Dual Grand out of the other.
As for the female that was bred to Terry, that was after I turned down his offer to breed to Little Bam. Apparently, Terry's stud fee is cheaper than Little Bam's.
I would never carry a pup to a place like Autumn Oaks that wasn't already sold.

Don't know anything about any Bam pups conditions as they don't interest me after viewing your video and all that bullarkey. If I was going to hunt a English dog it'd be other breeding, like Alans Warrior or Terry's line.
There were some very young pups there and some very poor wormy looking.
Retic, you may not realize but some folks won't breed to certain dogs due to the owner and his attitude and standing with the breed. Some don't give a darn about cost of breeding its the quality that counts!

AT ANT RATE LOOKS LIKE THE TERRY DOG IS REPRODUCING VERY WELL. THIS IS THE 2ND CROSS OUT OF TERRY AND THE BRIAR CREEK FEMALE.
I THINK THE GUY WITH THE FEMALE CHOSE TO GO BACK TO TERRY.
Tim's pups looked well cared for.Nice healthy looking pups.He did offer to give me one.He asked if I comp. hunted and when I told him yes,he offered me one free because he said he'd rather give them to guys that would put them in hunts than sell them to guys that would not put them in hunts. He wanted some to make nt.ch. so his female might make the top reproducers list.
Ray,you are more than right about why some people won't breed to a stud dog. That happens in every breed I reckon.A lot of jealousy or somebody don't like somebody.Lot of silly things that ain't even nothing to do with the dog...lol. I'm just as guilty of it I reckon. Some stuff out there I won't take for free.Just the way folks are I guess.

Rusty, I agree with you, sure wish I could have met you, always good to put a face with someone like you that I enjoy on the board. Seen alot of old friends there both days and enjoyed it, usually go down to LDC and hunt but wanted to give AO a try, and no luck or maybe just maybe wasn't packing a coondog.
Looked all over the traders for a ole friend but don't think he's allowed to show up. Had a present for him, but it'll keep.

selling pups at shows
Actually most kennel registeries don't allow the selling of pups at events. Some pups have gotten parvo have not been properly vacinnated prior to comming to these events. Almost sounds like some kind of coonhound puppy mill. Especially when having to give away or sell a pup real cheap to get rid of it. Hope ther were not any under at least 8 weeks of age.
Kim, you're right and some of those pups weren't big enough to be in that inviroment.
Rusty, I hear that, I got near the "legends in their own mind barn" and it smelled bad, couldn't enter. LOL

Guess I was lucky
I bought a beautiful bluetick English pup at Oaks in 01 & she has turned out to be the best dog I ever owned. She & I have reached many of my dreams together. I agree that alot of those pups out there that I seen, are in need of a good worming & some needed to stay home a bit longer & grow some more. I would never take pups there to sell, just won't, not if you care about the pups in general. To many things they can pick up & to much trama for such a young pup. Plus if you take pups, you have to stay with them & care for them, which I like to go & talk to ppl & stuff & don't want to be tied to one spot. I prefer to get my pups from ppl whom I know & trust. Not someone who has a pen set up & then forgets your name as soon as you walk away. But thats just me. Like I said, I was lucky with Autumn, may not be next time. So think & choose carefully.

Yes there were allllllll kinds of dogs for sell at Oaks as there always is.I had two Walker females with me and sold both.I also had my Boone male with me and had several guys try to get me to price him.A couple of guys tracked me down in the showcase and asked me to price him, which I did(they had heard him barking and liked his mouth). They said they would go look at him so more and talk to me later.I took a guy out to look at one of the females I had for sell and the guys that I had priced the male to came back by.I had priced him at $800.00 they told me that was about $400.00 to much.Nothing like a guy trying to get a decent dog for nothing.....HUH ?
we got a pup...
was behind breeders showcase...not out infront. and she was roly poly healthy!! bought her from joe maitkin, owner of dual gr ch rocky run red rock who WAS the littermate brother high scoring english male at autumn oaks...whom terry calls nite ch "bud". he is a son of gr nite ch rocky run blue terry and gr nite ch long's hardtime ann...whom terry won high scoring eng female at autumn oaks only a few years back. my pup is a full younger sister. there were puppies of all ages, shapes and sizes. and adult hounds as well. going to a big event, anytime, you will see things that you don't care for...this event is no exception. and it is still one of my favorites!! great fun!! as for ol goforth? go for a hunt is what i say...he's a super nice fella and never refuses to hunt any night legal.
