cataracts on a hound

I got an old female who has a cataract on her left eye. I called several vets they dont do the surgery and all reccomended the University of Missouri. UoM will cost at least two thousand dollars. All vets said no medicine was available for the eye. Anyone else have this problem? Is there anything else that can be done?

The only fix for a cataract is an intraocular lens implant. The lens in the eye becomes cloudy and must be removed and in implant inserted. This is very minor surgery in people. Not sure about dogs. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Mike I have an indian man for a customer. One from India and he says cataract sergury over ther is $ 100.00 on a human and they have some of the best surgiens in the world.
Probubley wouldn't cost $ 15 bucks for a dog. Don't know what it would cost to fly it over and back though. A person is around $1200.00
A stint like they put in for hearts and things are made about 70 miles from his house and cost $ 100.00 installed. Sure tic's you off or it does me. Don't have to live there to get things done either. There are meds abroad that you can't get here too. Might have some that work for that. Be worth checking out. A lot of my customers have to get there meds from Canada.
I think I would see if I could find a vet in India though on the internet.

Yea but they may have meds over there that arent allowed in the USA. Might ship you some. If you find out what it is if anything I can have one of this guys familey send it to him. I have known him for a long time. His son is a surgien here in the states.

No but your state vet college might be able to help you out on that or even know the meds that haven't been aproved for USA yet though.
