Who got you started?
Who got you started? It was my Father! He drug my brothers and I around when we were little kids. We followed hounds from the lines from Finley River and Joe House. He's my hero and I could never thank him enough for taking the time to take us with him. He still goes with my brothers and I as often as he wants. Nothing like good hunting buddies!! Picture Dad, Brother and Uncle Todd.

My Great Friend Mike Crooks Got me into Coon and Bear Huntin, he sold me my first pup a Bluetick male and taught me how to raise him and i tryd some of my own ideas along the way that pup now 2.5yrs old is a hell of a dog. I cant thank him enough for taking the time to teach me the ways of the Hound woods. He is now Like Family to Me and we try to get out and hunt once a week. Thanx Mike for all that you have done for me.

Hunting buddies
We treed another cat saturday, it was great. Had my son, brother and my dad. It was a really good time. Like Lavell did last time I left my camera at home. Maybe some of his pictures turned out good.

Was my dad that got me started wanting hounds, he used to hunt them when i was real young. But it was my mom that got me my first hound when I was 12.
I still hunt with a guy that is 81 he used to hunt with my dad he said he can still remember him grabbing me up and packing me when i got to tired to keep up. Along with a few dozen more embarrassing stories.

my grandpa and cousins got me into coon hunting and then my buddy hooked me up with my first dog
Was my dad.
My first hunt was a lion hunt and I was 7. My legs were just a little to short to keep up so dad took me coon hunting for the next few years until I was big enough to keep up.
When he got up in years we use to joke that his legs were a little to short and I was the one that stayed with the hounds.
We had a million good times and laughs while he was here.
Truly my best friend !
.
It's hard to say I am a sixth generation houndsmen but the person with the most influance on me and hounds would be my grandfather Otto Young.

My father
Got me started. He used to have beagles. We lived on a farm and hunting was a everyday thing back then. We used to tag along with our BB guns and would shoot at the rabbits when they went by. Wont ever forget that.
My dad started taking me hunting when i was four.
hunting
quote:i got started coon and bear hunting 3 years ago. ever since i was 6 i watched the movie "WHERE THE RED FERN GROWS" and i loved it.. i wanted to be just like that.. i loved hounds. even sittn there watching the movie hearing those hounds bark makes my heart swell with pride. and i had to grit my teeth to keep from saying YA HOOO!!! Hounds are my life, and to me a good hound is a buddy. except even better. i am now 14 years old. i have 2 walker coondogs. and 3 finished beardogs. i also have some pups doin good. my dad supports my hunting and gives me gas money and stuff. but he dont hunt with me. and when he takes me and drops me off on the mountain to hunt and i am hunting with my buddies, their dads are with them hunting. but im by myself. thats the only thing id change in my life. i just wish my dad would get into it. my dream is to grow old with my dogs, have good dogs, lose them, and do the same with their pups and so on. im gonna have a huge kennel and run a guide service. im gonna have a son and take him hunting as soon as he gets home from the hospital. im gonna carry him into the trees. then someday he will grow old and do the samething with the same line of dogs even after im gone.
