gaining weight

Had a walker male get the bloody diarrhea. Kept it two days. Wasn't real bad. Took him to vet. Has had all shots, and interceptor for heartworm. Treated him for tape worm, and gave meds for the bloody stool.
He is down to 65 pounds, all ribs are seen clearly. Switched from diamond to purina pro plan after all of this occurred. Can't get him to gain weight back. Any suggestions?

I had one that wouldn't put any weight on and I switched him to 30/20 super blend Black Gold. I put it in a self feeder and used 2 bags total. Now he's at the right weight and I dropped back to the performance bled. He gets 1.5qt once a day.

Stick with one of the foods for awhile before changing and also what i do is mix the food for about a week to help the switch.Try feeding him twice a day instead of 1 time, so he is not trying to digest a lot of food at once and ends up passing it before he benefits from it.

you got it right the hound apparently had tapes then you switched food andgave him more problems switching any food must be done gradual by lessing the old feed and adding rhe new this should be done over a 10 day period and the dog won't get the runs all food will cause the runs when abruptly switched there probably wasn't the old feed anyway tapes will tear a dog s insides up
