Sorta what I been thinking , message said :

Shame on you America ! Seems to be we have homeless without a shelter , children going to bed without eating , elderly going without needed meds , and mentaly ill without treatment - yet we have a benifit for people of Haiti on 12 tv stations. Why do we care so much for others and not ourselves ?I think we need to start and show the love for our needy and downtrotten first . lets spend our money on our own country ! Are'nt we worthy ? Many now unemployed without health care here as well . Yet our government can go fly them over here for treatment for free ! How can we spend millions on others? Wake up America ! 99% OF PEOPLE WONT HAVE THE GUTS TO FORWARD THIS MESSAGE . HOW ABOUT YOU?

Sorta has some truth to it . It is a sad tradgety what happened there but how much money , and free healthcare do we need to give them with the state of things at home ? In the last 4 years I have been hit by a tornado and later baseball sized hail , worse than a tornado almost , didnt see anyone giving me a handout , let alone any one helping. everyone would drive by, slow down , and stare, maybe I shoulda put a comercial on tv with a number they could text me $10 . just something to think about

I agree. I just have to share this with someone....
My son ~who works in a local tire makers plant here in Aiken~sprang his ankle on Sunday afternoon. Took him to the emergency room on Sunday,they took ex-rays, they gave him a splint and told him to make "an appointment with the specialist in the Aiken hospital on MOnday." He was told not to go to work for two nights. He was supposed to go in on Sunday night to start his weekly schedule. OK. Today is Tuesday. I have tried to find a Doctor in Aiken, Augusta, and Columbia that will take his hard earned insurance. No one does and no one will extend his DRs. excuse until he's seen by a specialist. He can not get his boot on to go to work, but I guess that doesn't really matter. He almost lost his job because he couldn't get a DR.s excuse to go to the specialist he was ordered to go to because of the insurance that the company where he works offers is not taken in the DRs offices he needs to go to.

If his supervisor hadn't stepped in, they would have fired him. What is up with that!

thats a compensation case for sure they can't fire him all he needs to do is go to any emergency room and get a dr's note it should be billed to compensation.

I have a feeling that's why his supervisor stepped in. "Little Ms. Chick-a-dee" didn't know what was going on....She told him he would be fired no questions asked.....
It's not the fact of the missing work deal. I can understand how there are so many out there that abuse this! My point is, he did all he could to do what they told him, and his insurance was rejected. The ONLY insurance the company that he works for offers, and he pays for~out of his earned money~ every week. Seems like they're be a better system to help those who are working and tring to do the right thing. He wasn't asking for a hand out! He just didn't want to loose his job!

I agree and disagree with the text.

I can't stand that the whole world hates America until they have a natural disaster and then they come running to us for help and cuss us when we don't send enough or send it fast enough. It's kind of like the old saying, "Everybody hates a redneck until they need their car fixed!"

But I disagree with the text because, and I'll probably get crucified for this, our gov't doesn't need to be giving handouts to our own people either. The US was built by strong, independent individuals who didn't want anything from any gov't but to stay out of their way. Seems like nowadays, people are looking to gov't to give them everything and fix all their problems, instead of working hard to fix it themselves. That makes us weak and dependent instead of strong and independent!

Now I do believe that we as Americans should be more willing to help each other out than we are, but just don't look to the gov't for it. Now to the specific examples on here of people getting screwed, those suck and I hope everything works out for you guys. When someone pays into insurance, it should pay back when something comes up. And when your house is damaged, your neighbors ought to help. But lets leave the gov't out of it, tell them to get out of our way and let us get on with living our lives.

Sorry it got so long, just been thinking a lot about this kind of stuff lately.

I agree with you 100%. But before the gov't gives money to these bail out programs and green earth,and to what ever B.S programs they make up,they should give the money back to the working, tax paying person.I don't like hand outs,but I don't like working and letting the gov't rob me and give it to someone else.

I agree 100%~my point is we need to take care of our own. NO ONE that is out there trying should be punished for that.
We really need to get back on track with this country. STOP hating each other and start HELPING each other. No Gov. involved.

If 12 TV stations want to take up private donations for Haiti that is fine with me. That gives citizens a chance to donate a charitable contribution if they wish to do so. For those of you who don't think we take care of our own, have you looked at the amount of federal withholding and social security coming out of your paycheck? Do you know where a large portion of this is going? How about food stamps, low income housing, free and reduced lunches, medicare/medicaid, etc. etc. etc. Best I recall, I'm not given an option whether I want to donate that money or not. It will be taken and distributed whether the people are truly in need or not. If I want to give a couple of hundred dollars to a relive fund that's up to me. After all my wife and I gave about $20,000 to the federal government this last year to distribute to what they deemed needy causes.
