how many people hunt in the snow??

How bad is it for the dogs feet?

Had my young dogs out in it before dark. The snow had turned to ice and it didn't take long to cut them up a little. I'll run them hard when its all gone. They did get after some squirrels, it won't be long.

If its real cold at night , try it during the day when it is a little slushy. Coons here will walk during the day if its extremely cold at night. Coons are just like us, would you come out of your nice warm bed on a cold night. Well I might if I was a male and their was a hot female a few trees down. LOL

I'll run a dog in the snow if it's powder but if it is crusted I won't.

I think they're feet get conditioned for it. I run year round here in Wi.
I hit the rivers with my rig. Can cover alot of ground I normally can't get into.

rubbing petrolium jelly on their feet helps. after a few foot injuries i tried it and it seems to work.

In all my years of coonhunting on snow I have never had a dog get bloody feet from it. Fox dogs, yes. Coondogs, never.

Nice looking Red Dogs! We hardly get snow for long periods of time, at most it will lay 4 days , and then its gone. Hard to get a dog ready for that.
