Grand American Rule Question
After reading the C.B. article on the final cast, I wanted to point out that rule 4(g) should not have been used at the tree that was plussed and the Bruiser dog took minus tree points that were assigned to him. I don't want someone else making the same mistake at other hunts that will cost someone a cast win. Only when tree is slick or off-game seen, the judge can assign next available tree points and minus them. Take care, Ron
Dont thing that they did assign next available tree points.
He was treed in another location, left and was minused....was at Lil Red's tree when the judge arrived, coon seen...Minused his strike points.....

Rule 4(g)
Joe- I know all 3 dogs took tree minus earlier, but then it says later that when he was handled on the closed tree, he took a double hit under 4(g), even though coon was seen. This isn't the way it should be used and don't want others to use it wrong, while judging on a cast.
Dave- I wish!!! The only thing now is to remember to have the YAKTRAX on my boots when I leave the house to do chores in certain places. Front drive got sand/salt on it (safe). Take care, Ron
RolinBlues, you are right. I just went back and read it again and Alan states 4(g) was applied to Bruiser and he was minused both ways. No way 4(g) could be applied in that situation as it was described in the magazine article. My guess is that it was actually scored differntly and correctly because I know Nelson well enough to know he would have questioned that scoing even though it didn't involve his dog. I'd guess that Alan screwed up in the retelling of the story.
I saw the scorecard, and they did NOT apply 4(g) and assign next available tree....
He did take a strike minus by being at a closed tree when the judge arrived and a coon seen in that tree....

Kinda what I figgered.
Thanks Joe
Just knew what I read. Figured someone else would apply it wrong on local level if that was how it was used at a big hunt. Take care, Ron.
