stationary rule??

If it is put on a dog how does it work ??
Do you move to them automatic?
Or do you wait 6 min then move?

rule

stationary is when you tree your dog they have to maintain tree barking but cannot stop for more than a 2 minute intervel . you have 5 minutes when a dog is declared until you can proceed into the tree

Rule??

Well what is it called when they say that dog is not moving you need to tree it or I am putting the staionary on him and it runs 6 min.
But what I am asking is ,Do you move to him or do you have to wait the 6 min then tree him or what..??

if the judge puts the stationary on you , you have 5 minutes in which to tree your dog.
The judge will run the clock just as if you had treed him.
If the dog doesnt move, the 2 dont get him, and you dont tree him before the 5 is up, the judge goes to the dog and if he is indeed treed ON A TREE, you are scratched. If he is on a fence or anything other than a tree, just back out and continue the hunt.
You may not tree your dog after the stationary 5 is up.

6(q) If handler fails to declare treed a dog obviously treeing (Judge's decision) for a period of five minutes. Dog may be declared treed while five is running but not after the five has expired. Judge must verify dog to be at a tree before it can be scratched.

If a dog is obviously treeing, per Judge's opinion, the judge is to apply Rule 6.q.(also referred to as the stationary rule). Cast should be at the "tree" when the 5 minutes is up just as you would score a dog that had been declared treed. During that 5 minutes, the handler may declare his dog treed which would break the 5 according to Rule 6.q. and a new 5 minutes should be applied.
If handler doesn't declare dog treed within 5 minutes, judge must verify dog is at a a tree (not a brushpile, den, fence, or etc).
Dog is scratched if Judge verifies dog to be treed for 5 minutes without being declared treed.
Should the dog be found to not be treed, cast simply backs out and let the hunt continue.
If the dog moves from location, quits barking for 2 minutes, or if another dog is declared treed at that spot, all of those situations would break the 5 applied by Rule 6.q.
Who knows, I could be wrong. That's how I understand it to be.

so once it is applied you dont run in there to see what is going on you just have to play it out???

I ask because somtimes I like to use it because he will move on me right after I tree him lololo.
But someone told me you have to move to them immeditly to see what the dog is doing, I thought that was wrong but not for sure.

also you must call your dog as they do , if yor dog remains locked up and treeing then judge can call him stationary youll have to wait 5 minutes until you move in but like posted before if he is hung on a fence or wont cross a river or something then you back out and let the hunt resume , i wonder though , could you call interference if all the dogs say wouldnt cross a river ? i've never really ran into that ?

I am not sure where they came up with that buttttttttttttt . The first hunt I judged ,,,,, 4 dog cast 1 dog treed 3 still run same track or maybe different (anyway) dog a treed started the clock time has passed man ask how much time left I tell him 4 min gone by. He says we need to be there lets move closer I say we are fine , time passes he says how much left now I say 2 min lets move we take two step he says wait 4 had gone by now there s 2 left ????-----?????<<<>>>> .I ran the 8 min on him and the dog felt like an A??? . They all laughed dog stayed 8 min had the coon he wound up winnig with the only one seen Man I will never forget that night

COME ON GUYS

The ukc rule book is blue, if you are thinking about putting the stationary on yourself as a tool you dont need to be competition hunting. If the judge puts your dog on the stationary then you have 4 minutes and 59 seconds to tree your dog, if you dont tree him and the cast goes to him after the five and he is clearly treed then you go home now. And it sounds like that maybe where you should have been anyhow.

Dogs have 6 minutes to bark again in PKC instead of 8 in UKC I think. Haven't hunted PKC for a while so really not sure but I think that is the way it is. Will have to sharpen up on those soon to try and win the money for super stakes this spring.

His reference to 6 minutes and referring to the UKC rule book as the blue book led me to assume he was referring to the PKC.
I've never heard of UKC rulebook referred as the Bluebook before, even if the cover is blue.

The stationary rule is a good rule. For both judges and handlers for a variety of reasons.
