Female hasn't come in heat
I have a beautiful walker female bd 7/5/08. I have never noticed her come in heat. She has Nightime Hammer and Rock River Bang in her 3rd generation. I really want to breed her. Does anybody have any sucessful ways of getting a female to come in heat?
Nakita

I have one that is 20 months old and my buddy has one that is 19 months old and they have not came in yet one is a walker the other is a mixed up plott. The only thing I can think of is it has rained way more than ever here 20 inches above avg.. What dog food are you feeding. I feed Hi PRO.
I have a b&t that is 2 1/2 years old and she has been in heat once. Her sister has been in twice. Years ago I bought a bluetick to breed to my male and I let her go at over three years old and she had never come in heat. She was bred and had a nice litter at six years old though.

Get someone to give you Jason Miller's number. I thinkhe's from Ms. if not Ms. It's La. but anyway his wife is a vet and she sells some pills that will bring them in. You just give like two pills a day for five days they will be coming in on about the third. Then give like one more pill for four days and breed when they are ready and wallah pups in 63 days. LOL
He's on the prohound alot you could get his number or e-mail there probably
Thanks
Thanks Kevin. I will try to find Jason and go the pill route.

The pill is Diethylstilbestrol (DES). Had one 4 years old and never been in heat. Put her on DES and got pups.

SPRINGTIME
SPRING IS UPON US. EVERYTHING WILL SOON BE BLOOMING. LET MOTHER NATURE TAKE IT'S COURSE. WE HAVE A FEMALE WHO IS A COUPLE MONTHS YOUNGER THAN YOURS THAT HASN'T CYCLED YET EITHER.

I got a female that is close to 10 years old. DON'T wait on MOTHER NATURE. Mine has only came in season twice. One of those was on her own. She raised 10 pups. The other time I tried the pills and she came right in. She didn't catch on the breeding that time, but I going to give it one more shot.
If your female has never came in and she is 4 or older and the male is close to you it might be worth trying.
I talked to an animal reproduction specialist, 3 vets and numerous people that have experience with them. The side effects are minimal but there are risks.
Seems to work best on females between the age of 5-7 years of age. However, it is a 50/50 (maybe less) chance that they will take.
If your like me and your female comes in at least once a year or if you have to travel for the breeding..............wait!

Vitamin E has the greatest effect on the reproductive cycle. If you want to bring her in heat naturally, add 1 50 mg pill (you can get them anywhere vitamins are sold) to her food every day, or add a raw egg yolk (high in vit E) every other day, and they'll usually come in within 3 - 4 weeks.
It will also boost litter size, and increase the vitality of the pups.
Laurie
laurie
you got that right have brought a few old males back to producing high sperm counts with it and have brought females that stopped cycling back to normal cycles with it.
i bought an aged stallion that produced many good foals but went sterile back to producing foals again he produced his last foal at 22 years old

be sure she get get plenty of it. Gets her clock ticking, so to speak.
That's the way mother nature works things out for those "first timers" sometimes!
Best of luck!

Female in heat
Ok. So Nakita did come in heat all by herself and mother nature. Had alot of spotting.
Bred her on 11th day which was yesterday.
She's still spotting alittle.
AI experts say the blood will kill the sperm. Is that correct? Will she not have puppies?

Team Trouble
For most normal cycles 7 days coming in (bleeding) 7 days in (no bleeding to amount to anything) 7 days out (bleeding to begin with goin to nothing) every female is different though.
