DNA....Got to send it in again....
Has anyone had to do this twice? I swabbed just like the directions said and sent it in. Waited, Waited, Waited, and finally got another swab and was told I had to do it again. The pups are already four months old and I am wondering why it took so long for them to get with me and tell me I need another swab. Now the only thing I can do is send it in, and try to make it right with the people who bought the pups. I mean after six months it goes up, and I feel I need to make up the difference. Surely it doesn't take two and a half months to get a DNA profile done or to see if you have enough DNA on the swab to do one.

The price of a DNA profile is the same whether the dog is 4 months old or 4 years old. The only thing that goes up with age is registration and Performance Program nomination and they don't need the DNA profile for that.
I have had around 15 profiles done and have had one come back that required a resample.
The pups are not nominated yet because the sire's DNA is not done yet. It should have been but it seemed like it took alot longer than I was told it was going to. Now the pups will be over six months old before the sire's DNA is done because I have to redo it. I think I will send the nomination papers to the pups owners with a $25.00 check to help them out on paying it up. I guess I should have done it sooner but I wanted to make sure they were going to make it before I spent out all that money.

I just sent in my third sample and my older pups are 5 months old today. I sent in the preformance money and first sample August 8th and the first litter was born two weeks later. I do not see why they are holding up the pups papers while awaiting the DNA profile. They did tell me that if I wanted to drop the preformance on the pups that they would refund my money and send me the puppy papers.
I was told that I was getting to much saliva on the sample. This last sample should be good as it was a quick in, press, twist, and out.

I was told I didn't have enough for a sample. I actually had some blood on the swab and it was done to the letter according to the instructions.

I hope I don't get called to the principal's office over this
I have just closed the door on trying to get a profile on my dog since June. I just got my 4th, yes, I said 4th profile returned with insufficient cells. I am told that there is one chance in I don't know how many that a dog just doesn't enough DNA in its cheek cells to make a conclusive result. I found out today that you can do a blood profile at a cost of 100 dollars. I wished I had know that after the first return and I would have done that then. Now, I have a litter of pups on the ground that are 7 months old and several puppy owners that are so mad at me, they won't hardly speak to me. I spoke with owner of the female today and we decided to withdraw the litter nomination, so the papers will be issued. I just wished I had sent the dog's water bowl to CSI and they would have had the results back tomorrow. lol I know I have rambled a lot here, but I am just releasing months of pent up frustration. lol By the way, this is the first time I have ever had to retest. So, as to make this straight, I am not bashing the program, I am hoping others will benefit from my experience. If you don't get it the second time, you may want to think about the blood profile.

I already gave the puppy papers to the new owners. I am going to try this one more time and if it don't work I will refund some money and let it go. I may see if the local vet will take the sample for me.

I think it's crazy it takes longer to get DNA results back for dogs then it does for humans. What's up with that?
