any help with dog that has excessive drooling
i have a 7 month old treeing walker that has started drooling or slobbering really bad does it most of the time, just drips non stop and get so bad in the box while hauling him it soaks all of the bedding. i dont notice him doing it while in his pen but he starts as soon as i get him out and leash him, he still hunts fine his mouth sounds good no coughing or any thing that i can see is wrong, any info would be great. it is clear drool and not foaming
He's a hound.............hounds are prone to drool.
Some foam up at the mouth like Cujo when on the tree.

Trade him to Wee Wee for one that doesn't drool too much.

Take away his Skoal.
Sounds like he has vehicle issues or he is just not mature yet and gets slobbery when you take him out. At 7 months it can also be a tooth issue like was said. Make a point of increasing the routine of getting him out of the kennel on a leash and going to do things. If the only time he gets into the box is for hunts then he will do this if it is always exciting to him. This should ease up as he matures and gets used to variations in the routines.
Or duct tape a diaper to his chops.
I think he is experiencing some sort of motion sickness or naseua.
I have had a couple like that and when they get used to riding in the box they quit. Give it some time in the box. Maybe ride it to town when you run errands or when you just go to the store etc..

thanks for some of the post thats what the vet said is that it was motion sickness and excitement when getting out of the pen, it may get better with age and maybe that way for ever
Whenever your going somewhere, throw him in the box and take him with you. He's just nervous and just needs to get use to it. I've even made them sleep it the box before to get them use to it.

I have a dog that just turned a year old, for 3 months, he would entirely soak the bottom of the dog box drooling. Like you just turned on a faucet, I wouldnt even have to drive anywhere, just load him up and he started. I believe it was a case of nerves, as he never got sick, just drooled like crazy. He has entirely stopped, it just took hauling him a lot, and for about a week, I fed him every day in the box, and would let him sleep in it every night. That seemed to help.
