Sick coon in Michigan
Has anyone else around mid michigan been finding dead coons in the woods? Seen them curled up on the ground at the bottom of den trees no holes and they look like they were healthy. What type of disease could kill them that fast? Rabies?

Ben i ahve a buddy here taht works in the metro parks. They found about a dozen coon in a 200 yard diameter in one of their parks. this was back in september. Don't believe they sent them in to be tested, but said it looked to be distemper.

When the coon lay up for periods of time this time of the year they come out weak. If they weren't strong when they denned up.....they don't make it.

Distemper
I have seen it in our area a couple years back - natures way of thinning over population. Just need to kill a few more to keep em thinned down. lol
