Garmin DC-40 Collar

Any body know for sure if they are in fact coming out with a DC-40 this spring. There was a thread on this board a couple weeks ago in which a couple people were waiting til they came out to buy new collars. Was looking at adding a couple to my system but will wait if it is indeed true that a new one will be hitting the market soon.

Any of you that are dealers heard or know anything for sure about the release date on them???

If one is going to come out it will come out the same time the Marshall GPS comes out.

DC40

I'm a field tester for Garmin and I've been using a test prototype of the DC40 for the last 6 weeks in testing. The DC40 should hit the market sometime this summer. It has many new features that I believe will improve your outdoor experiance. New features are,

Unlimited range in any terrain.

An integrated camera with zoom features that will allow you to see treed game before walking into a tree. The camera also allows you a view from the dogs perspective.

A scent indicator that allows you to know ahead of time what your dog is running. The screen will flash '' Opossum'' ''deer'' etc etc.

The new DC 40 will also have a built in shocking system that will allow correction of unwanted behavior. For example , when your screen flashes '' Opossum'' , you simply apply the tone button and if that doesn't solve the problem , you can then apply a shock at various levels of stimulation until the negative behavior ends.

I hope this answers some of the questions you have about the new DC 40. Thank you.

I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT THE POINT OF THIS IS ....

TO ME IT IS TAKING ALL THE FUN OUT OF THE SPORT ....

WE MIGHT AS WELL SIT HOME AND PLAY COON HUNTING ON THE PLAYSTATION!!!

I LOVE MY GARMIN BUT I FOR ONE WILL PROBALY NOT USE THE DC40 BECAUSE I LOVE THE FEELING WONDERING OR NOT IF MY HOUND HAS A COON OR SLICK OR DEN OR OPPOSUM AND WHEN I GET THERE AND LOOK UP AND SEE THE COON I GET EVEN EXCITED ..... WHERE WOULD THE RUSH BE IF I CAN LOOK ON A SCREEN AND SEE WHAT MY DOG IS RUNNING ????

OK , OK , you guys blew my cover ! I'm just a wanna be field tester. I don't know a dern thing about the DC40.....

BUT , I do remember Grandpa saying a long time ago that some day you be able to put a collar on your dog and then know where he is at all the time. Of course we all rolled on the ground in laughter and made fun of him....

Many years ago he also looked up into the night sky and said '' someday a man will walk on the moon '' ,,, and everybody really had a good laugh at that one...

Who knows what the future holds in technology , but I'd be willing to bet a tracker/shocker combo will come out pretty soon all in one unit.

Lee , I think the Garmin people are trying hard to make one that will speak region specific language. It will be Criks in some regions and creeks in others.

Randy Tallon will need one that has differant settings for '' Ya'll'' and ''You'ns'' depending on what region your from.

Yes , I do tend to agree for the most part. I'm nastalgic and a traditionalist. I can remember following dogs and shining a 2 cell flash light on the hind end of a dog and hollering ''' Whoooaaa Sick Emmmm Boy'' !!!

Coonhunting has changed a bunch and will continue to change , if it don't die out someday. There is no stoping technology. I even hate guys talking on cell phones all night long in the woods too , but that the way the world is today.

In the mean time , I strap on my 21 volt light and Garmin and quad cab truck and hit the woods. I'm as guilty as the next guy.

I agree with you on that! It would be a huge inprovement if they just change the collar.
Different colors would be awsome but if they would just change the material I would be happy!!

I'm waiting for the senior citizens model with a mini 10/22 mounted on it. Directional shocker for aiming thru the camera with a laser sight. Run'em ,tree'em, shoot'em out and retrieve'em. Comes standard with 50 round clip and guaranteed to stop dog fights and greatly deter idiots from shooting dogs. Suggested accessories is hound / pointer crossbreed.

with a 10-22 on it a 10 shot clip should be enough fo 10 coons,,,,lol
you could reload when the dog fetchs the first coon back to you ,just in case it winds a layup on the way back to get the other 9 coon,,lol

what you were saying isnt that far fetched except for the scent indicater modual might be very high dollar item..
they have scent detectors for gas/propane for the people working for the gas companys, how much harder would it be to program the gadget to detect possum/deer scent,,ect ???

as for the video part, they make mini-wireless surcurty cams that operate off 9volt batterys,,.
all you would have to have is a netbook/laptop to hook the receiver to and you are in bussiness,,an dc to ac inverter in the pickup could give you the ac power for receiver booster for the cam setup.,the main thing would be the range output of the cameria, which could be boosted with an ampifier circutboard addon....as for the shocker combo,,how hard would it be to put it on the same collar as the tracker collar,,mount the cam in between the 2 units and they could be counter balancers to keep the cam in proper place..,

when you think about what you said ,its not that far fetched,,if a common coonhunter could afford it would be the bigest selling point for it..but look what the garmin has done for trackers,,cam may not be far behind.....

Until we get use to it I don't want to wear the dog out running back to the truck for more shells. Might be handy in those Professional handler shootouts to.

Up here, we got creeks and rivers. I had a buddy up a couple of years ago to hunt, he said what I called a creek, was a river. We weren't even on big water. Is a crick smaller than a creek? Is a Coolie bigger than a creek but smaller than a river?

I need help with this. Don't want to scare my southernish buddy next time!
