Feeding coons

Whats the best feed to feed coons to bring them to your area?

Posted by Stokes08 on 01-17-2010 06:58 PM:

peanuts or a coon food that a dog food company down here makes...the company that makes it is MID-SOUTH

Posted by BWSupplies on 01-17-2010 07:12 PM:

Feerder Bucket Candy

You can get the original from Dean Mace. This stuff works, its flavored liquorish, and when the coons find it they will stay till its gone.

feed them dog food out of a feeder bucket

Posted by chadf on 01-17-2010 08:12 PM:

Sour corn is about the cheapest way to feed coons and bring them in. Just make sure the corn is always under water so it doesn't get moldy. It stinks real bad but the coon sure do love it.

Posted by BWSupplies on 01-17-2010 08:17 PM:

If you take a 5 gallon bucket of Feeder Candy, drill a 1in hole at the bottom of the bucket or a 1in hole in the top and a small hole in the bottom to let the water out, The bucket will last 3 to 4 weeks. If you use a lot of corn or dog food, this will be cheaper.

My coon aren't very picky, they will eat most anything. What I have been doing for the last year or so since dog food went sky high is to mix dry dog food and corn. I mix about 3 parts corn to 1 part dog food. Works really well, in the summer I go to straight corn and wet it or just leave it dry, may sprinkle a little koolaid on it.

Never put but 2 feeders out in my life but a friend of mine swears by cheap dog food. When we had them for pets we fed them dog food.
I am going to put out some sorgum licks when I get around to building some. I have got 2 guys with thousands of acres apeice and they want them dead. I am going to live trap and move as many as I can.

What you are referring to is corn that has been wet and becomes moldy this will produce the aflotoxin and kill whatever eats it however, the soured corn people use in feeders is soaked in water and left underwater to fermit which doesn't produce the harmful affects you mentioned.

when ya do a tire like that is it better to hang it or leave it at ground leval.

Never ask a man what kind of dog he has. If he has a hound he'll tell you, if he does not, you don't want to shame him by asking.

SOUR CORN

Just put your corn in 5 gallon buckets, cover it with water and let it sour.

Dig a hole, bury a five gallon bucket in the ground leaving about about 3 to 4 inches of the bucket above ground. This will allow the coon to hook their hind feet on the bucket and get the corn out.

The deer wont bother it and it will NOT KILL ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!
