bear

Have a story to share just because it was such a freak accident. I was out rabbit hunting this morning and there was an old log covered with brush i was walking over towards it to kick it and see if i could jump a rabbit and as i walked i heard one of my hounds open under the brush and i heard a fight break out since i was only a few feet away i ran over to break up the fight thinking two dogs where fighting over somthing dead as i lean over to see under the log to kick the dogs apart the hound ran out and i found myself staring at a black bear right in the face (3 ft) and it scared me so bad i just turned and ran right behind the dog. After it had ran clear out of sight i went back and looked it had been deaned up under this log hibernating i guess and i must have just woke it up and suprised it. But the dog made it with just i few wounds to the hip and will be just fine the vet. said so we all made it out. just wanted to share that because it was such a once and a million accident.

Bear

I had almost the same thing happen a few years ago..Our dogs ran a rabbit under a tree top and my brother shot it on the other side and I heard some squalling and thinking a dog had a hold of the rabbit. I ran face to face with a bear that had my beagle underneath it. The bear ran off it had cubs so i grabbed my dog and got out of there. She was bit through the shoulders i didn't think she was going to make it but she healed up in time.
