If the "World Hunt" has-

4 dogs from four different breeds in the final cast, What will the different characteristics be?

Nitechamp-

does that mean you don't know or there wouldn't be any?

This one is easy.....

Bluetick, would be boo-hooing a track that is 4 days old, at a snails pace.....

B@t, would be headed out of the country, chasing fast game~of course.

Redbone, would be standing there, as if being shown on a bench watching the whole affair.

And of course the walker, would be slick treed on the nearest sapling while all this is going on.

Posted by nitechamp bud on 08-29-2003 07:12 PM:

that means i think it's a question that can't be answered. surely any dog that makes it to the final four in the world hunt is a top hound reguardless of the breed and each breed varies so much within it's self who can really say what the charterictics are unless we know what dog it is.

So it's= Bluetick +100
B/T +75
Redbone 0
Walker -50-125=-175

So far.

Because I'm sure the Blue opened first, than the B/T hit the deer checking the Blue and the Walker just knew it better get treed and the Red is just lucky so far?

But josh, this is the "FINAL 4 of the World"!

OK Nitechamp-

I got things to do and places to go, so heres' where I was going with this.

THERE'S NOT GOING TO BE ANY!

My bet is there's not going to be a cold nose Bluetick in the cast or a Bugle voice B/T.

When it comes to Competition Hunts, breed characteristics are out the window. It's like Nascar on Sunday, take the name off the grill and they're all the same with a different paint job.

And I think a man iwas trying to make that point on a post a while back, if you want to win that bad don't bring different breed blood into a breed, just just that breed.

There ARE some blues out there that can hang with those hot nosed walkers that are winning. I just wish our dogs weren't so dark, you know in the heat they get hotter! You knew that right? Well you need to think about it. Walkers were bred to run fox. Spring weather and summer. They were bred to run in the heat of the year. But don't get me wrong. There are some good ones. And yes some I'd be proud to feed.

Posted by on 08-29-2003 09:34 PM:

Funny how these Bluetick guys always believe a dog that takes all night is "coldnosed" and a dog that gets things done quick is "hotnosed".

Posted by josh on 08-29-2003 11:03 PM:

Yea Jim, I had a walker female that was patheticly slowwwwwww.
Everyone that hunted with her would comment on her "cold" nose.....I found a good deal of humor in that because I knew better

She was Lipper bred top and bottom........Go figure.

Posted by John D on 08-29-2003 11:40 PM:

It would work a bad track like a bloodhound, but run it like a foxhound, locate the tree with the smarts of a collie and the winding ability of a pointer , and tree like a cur.

Any one in the final four would be something most coonhunters would be proud to own.

Oh, yeah, and it would meet a certain coonhound's breed standard.

I liked Josh's 1st post- But what about the english and plott dogs?? Old timer didn't specify which four breeds- What about it ??

i know that answer..the english took off after the bobcat on the first drop and the plott caught wind of the bear and nobody wanted to climb the mountain to see if they were on the other side...lol

Actually, there was 5 dogs on that cast, but all you could see of the Walker was a little bit of his tail sticking out the corner of the Plotts mouth.

Sorry,couldn't help myself.

"BREED STANDARDS"????????

Really only come into play or get checked for 2 things that I have seen in 40 some years and that's Bench Shows or Single Reg. a dog.

You show up for a Nite Hunt, they check the Number on a card. You pay your entry fee and go hunting. After the hunt, dog stays in the truck and if your lucky you go in and pick up the hardware. I have never seen a judge check to see if any of the males had 2 male parts, or if they were 13 or 30 inches tall. I bet you could hunt a Redbone with a white tip on the tail, a Bluetick with yellow polk dots and a Black and Tan with a purple belly in a nite hunt and no one would say a thing. If I'm wrong please let me know if anyone has ever been not able to hunt because their dog was to short or tall, wasn't cat foot or didn't have the right color? Thanks

It sounds to me like Josh and Jim do not know much about the blueticks being bred and ran today. That cold-nosed label being attatced to blueticks is getting real old and is a thing of the past.

Probly just as many as we're disqualified on the bench cause they couldn't trees a coon if it antagonized them!
