Orange County, NC - Deer dogs usage

Orange County Board of County Commisioners will be discussing a proposal to eliminate or restrict "deer-dogging" in Orange County. The discussion is based upon the information received from a panel working with hunters, NC Wildlife, concerned citizens, and property owners. The information to be used in the January meeting can be veiwed here: http://www.co.orange.nc.us/OCCLERKS/09121511d.pdf

This story was featured on WRAL earlier this week with Eno River CHA member and deer hunter Lamar Chapman (I think I got the name right?) speaking from the deer hunters point of view and a local property owner speaking from the opposing view. Lamar did a nice job of stating the facts and not allowing emotion to rule the interview.

While I do not deer hunt with dogs I support their right to hunt with hounds and I recognize that anti-hunting groups will attack one type of hunting until they get a victory then attack the next...We as coonhunters could be next if/when they are successful with this campaign against the deer doggers.
