Can US Gov't own your computer contents?

I received an email stating:
1. On the USDA's web site that allows public access to needed dog, horse or animal information reports and statistics, you first need to be aware of one important fact BEFORE accessing their information, as follows:
NOTICE IF YOU ACCESS THE USDA DOG OR ANIMAL FILES BY COMPUTER ON THEIR WEB SITE, YOUR COMPUTER AND ALL INFORMATION ON YOUR COMPUTER WILL BECOME GOVERNMENT PROPERTY. YOU FIRST MUST CONSENT TO YOUR COMPUTER AND FILES BECOMING THE GOVERNMENT PROPERTY AND LEGALLY ACCESSIBLE BY THE USDA AND US GOVERNMENT FOREVER MORE BEFORE YOU CAN ACCESS THEIR FILES AND REPORTS.

Expectation of Privacy?

The indiviual who sent that to me claims that just accessing the USDA web site (and other government web sites) gives the government enough info to access an individual computer based on what subjects are viewed.I'm wondering if anyone else has heard of this?

I do billing on the internet for federal government orders (mostly military) placed through our company and all their websites have that warning.
I think it's more to warn people that mis-using government websites will be punished/prosecuted, than the government accessing our computers. If they really want to do that, I doubt if they would warn us

When the Patriot Act was passed so hastily just after 9/11/2001, the U.S. gov was given pretty much total access to your computer and phone. The "sneak and peek" provisions allow your computer to be searched [via the internet] without your knowledge, and if they find anything that they would like to use against you, then they file a warrant after they have found what they were looking for. These same provisions apply to your phone- you may be listened to, and again if they hear something that they would like to use, they file a warrant retroactively. There is also in the Patriot Act a letter that I forget the name of- something like a "national security letter", in which if they may come to you and gather any info from you and go through anything that they choose, and if you so much as talk to your lawyer about it, you are "exposing national secrets" , so you must just keep your mouth shut or go to jail. These letters have been used I believe over 20,000 times during the Bush administration. If the republicans gave the govt the right to eavesdrop and snoop at will, do you really think that the Obama administration won't continue to use/abuse those same rights?
The Patriot Act is one of the most unamerican unpatriotic bills ever.
Assume at all times that your internet use and content is monitored. Because when you hit the "agree" button on most any software updates you are also giving permission to private groups to access much of your data- example: facebook.

Every thing posted on the internet and said on a phone goes through a huge National Security computer, including this message.

My new cell phone has GPS on it. I would bet the government could track me at will as long as I had it on my person.

All my cedit cards have the data of where I was, what I spent, and what products I bought. I am very sure the government has access to these records.

Folks, Big Brother has been watching us for years. It will only get worse.

Truley, I only highlighted a portion of you statement . Can you please futher explain the part about {"file a warrent retroacctively"'?

I worked for USDA for 13 years. Guesss I was not fully vested. Rose up to have a title of a Newly created Job called" Targeteted Area Agronomist". This was back when Soil was considered Furtile and very little foreplay was needed for deposition and germination , while organismic carbon was considered our friend.

So why does youre little community need to hire a Building inspector? It is becauase the the feds proclaimed that you have to have one so your town can get a piece of the money. Does anybody ever5 ask, Do we really need a building inspector if a guy is adding on a leanto bedroom to his trailorhouse because he is expecting a second child? NO! we need a building inspector in place so that when the bank or the government decides to step in and "Take" or "intestate" or proseccute a lien or warrant against you , they will have a certified government backed? piece of crap paper tgat says your place was built according to Gove4rnment specs, so you can't sue the government for buying a tax sale property that was added on to by an imbacile that wanted to build a bedroom that would cave in and kill his exspected chile? even tyoughwe can expect the Building inspecter action was initaated by a code of law that required "when Federal Funds are utilized for construction". lyle, under the patriot act, your home may be searched, your computer and phone hacked into, and it is all ok as long as they get a warrant within 48 hours after the search. If you don't realize that they did the search then they don't need to bother with the paperwork of getting a warrant.
This is one of the big issues that many of us were upset about with Bush- that he skirted the FISA court, which had historically almost never turned a search warrant down, to allow all sorts of bureaucrats to eavesdrop at will without any paper trail. Under FISA rules at least there was a paper trail. No one ever got turned down, but at least it was on file who they wanted to listen in on and why. Remember that the FISA court is top secret- I don't think we are even allowed to know who serves on it.
Back a few years when everyone thought that Bush could do no wrong, I asked the question- So if it's ok for the feds to eavesdrop on anyone when BUsh is president, but how are you gonna feel when it is Hillary? Well , now we have Obama- how do feel about Obama's people having the right to eavesdrop on you? And to think that he has to use a law put in place originally by Bush and the republicans.

While we are on the security subject- Anyone familiar with a "beacon" being placed on a computer? It is my understanding that when the feds get in your computer, if they choose, they can install a system that records every keystroke that you ever type, whether you delete it or not. So even if you type an email and then choose not to send it and immediately delete it, they are aware of what you wrote. And under the Patriot act, beacons can be placed on your computer without having to inform you. Ever.

I done told yall that I worked for USDA. I was on The 9th floor of the SRTom Thurmon FEderal Buildiding when I Told him to ( regarding that my check woulde be sent to Bishopville SC and I could either be there or not) and I told him to "licck it and stick it" and the Big Boss got to shakin like a dog passing persimmion seeds,. I have paid my dues to any and everty beaurcrat that has ever5 , or whoever hopes to be my "BIG BOSS" , won't ever happen.

I don't like invasion of privacy any better than the next guy but I'd rather someone was watching all the weirdos and creeps in this world. There are a lot of bad people in the world and I don't care how they get caught.
