Left the dog?
A few months a go we cut three dogs lose 2 started runnin a deer my dog knows better. We left my dog to go catch the other two. We got back bout an hour later and my dog was standing where we cut them lose. Ever since then he wont go huntin like he used to wont get very deep and if he hears the truck start he comes running. The first time I hunted him after this he would hardly go at all. He still trees coons but dont hunt like he used to. Has anybody ever had this happen before? He will be 2 next week will he come out of it?

Just keep hunting him, single him out and keep hunting him.
When ever he realizes your not going to leave him, he will be ok.
sounds like you left the good 1 to chase a couple pot lickers.....
now you have messed up the good 1,keep hunting him and learn from your experience. good luck!
dog
if you got in your truck and left him he probly afarid you going to leave again i would never leave a good hound to go find a trashy dog this is just my opion if they dont come back you arent losing much
Your dog has a measure of sense.
Pat him on the head, he'll get over it.Like Van Dusen said "single him out".
&
Quiet hunting w/those %$#@*^.

Hello Wildbill,
to answer your question you never replace, only move on and build from your experiences.Slim was an exceptional dog in every department, I feel blessed to of had him.The last couple of years of Slim`s life he was retired and I was working on a couple of dogs....Now those dogs are what I am hunting.I enjoy these dogs and have fond memories of Slim. They are building memories for the future,to me that is what it`s all about.
Now this year I have another 1 treeing coons every nite and she is really got me excited, she is also the right kind, and I feel blessed to have these dogs.If you are ever in my area feel free to stop in for a hunt.
Go to the thread that says "let`s see those wipeout dogs" and there is s video of her on there.
