Diamond Dog Food ?
HAVE U FEED THIS KIND OF FOOD ? IF SO, HOW DID YOUR DOGS DO WHEN HUNTED HARD ? U CAN PM ME IF U WANT. THANKS, MARTY..........
When i first started feeding Dimond I loved it well here the last couple heres when i was feeding it I didnt have to hunt dogs to hard and they couldn't keep wait on very well. Seemed to always have loose stools. Had a beagle that held his head to the side and shook it like he had ear mites or a canker vet said nothing wrong with him. Right when i quite feeding Dimand he went back to normal so for me i went back to high standard.

Try Loyall Premium Pet Food the Professional Formula, alot of hunt trail breeders use it and like it.
I use it ,the coat is better and the stool is a little hard but they dont pop as fast thus the food is being digested.

I have had real good luck with Diamond. I do the sport blend that is 20 % fat. Keeps my 90lb. B&T and my Blue tic pup fat and shiney. Stool not bad either. Cost me $ 19.50 for 50# and that is pretty cheap for around here for a food that works.

Just remember"light travels faster than sound. That is why some people appear to be bright untill you hear them speak."
Been feeding Diamond Extreme Athlete....dogs do very well on it. Fed Purina Hi Pro til they stopped it.....then Ultra Advantage til dealer stopped it...dogs appearance improved with Diamond.
Fed Diamond for about 2 yrs. The dogs did fine on it until the recall, after that, it was all down hill. They lost weight, wouldn't cycle right in their heats and when they did come in season, bred them and got no pups. I gave up on it, switched to Prism and have been happy ever since. I talked to a few breeders around me who had fed Diamond and it was the same thing for them. We all switched and have never looked back.

Tried the diamond naturals for a month or so. Was not impressed at all, coats started to lose thier shine, stool was never as firm as I like, dogs didn't seem to like the taste as much as some other foods I have fed. Will not feed it again.
Also noticed the ear problems in my dogs that many people on here have experienced with diamond feeds.

diamond...
I don't feed Diamond brand feed. I've always fed both a Purina brand and then switched over to Black Gold... Black Gold works well for me, and I won't look back...
But, I got a buddy who's been feeding Diamond to a younger hound (maybe 6 - 9 months), and he can't keep the weight on the dog.
We talk about this a lot, but neither one of us seem to know what's going on. The dog has been wormed, treated well, no diseases - nothing to worry about on our side. But, the young dog just can't seem to keep weight on him... like his bones are sticking out sometimes... He just looks like he's underfed, BUT he's not!
What do you all think about this? Any comments? Suggestions?
put him on pro plan, i fed about 3 bags of that , i loved it ,, it just puts a hurting on the wallet, lol
all my dogs where muscled up deluxe and looked like they filled out more and more, the more i hunted them!

There's not a thing wrong wid diamond liked it myself fed it up to a couple months ago then the local feed store quit carring it but kept all my dogs fat and shiney hard stool and no head shaking.
i feed diamond for years and think its atop of the line feed the only problem i have with diamond is i have never seen a hunt that they sponsered like purina or blackgold does
Go Diamond
I feed Diamond Premium (green bag). It works great. They also have a higher protien food but i would feed that unless i lived where it was good and cold and the dogs needed it. Premium contains Omega 3 fatty acids which are good for coat, joints, and all around health. they sponsored the Louisiana State Youth Hunt. Donated 500lbs of feed.

Myself I feed Pride in the black and silver bag. 24/20!! My dogs probably are a little too fat. However I only hunt a couple nights a week right now due to my work schedule! They stay shiney and have a good firm stool. They tear it up too. $18.00 a bag here! I used to feed Joy high maint. in the brown paper bag and had really good luck out of it as well but I can find it close by anymore.

I been feeding Diamond All Natural Chicken since last summer. No loose stools, muscle where it should be and plenty of stimmena. When I find a better feed for the money I have no problems switching but it wont be any type of corn based feed. (ProPlan)
I have never owned any type of dog that snubbed its nose at any kind of feed.
Skinny dogs are skinny dogs usually caused by a high metabolism if wormed correctly and fed right. Dogs like this need to be double fed if you want to put weight on them. That means the same amount of feed in the morning that you feed in the evening. Those type of dogs simply cost more to feed. I think its natural to blame feeds with these type of dogs.

Also, and this is on every bag of every dog feed manufacture.
When we switch brand of feeds without a gradual change our hounds are going to have upset stomachs assotiated with loose stools.

Last I checked Corn Gluten Meal is basicly extruded corn.
ProPlan ingredients:
Chicken, corn gluten meal, brewers rice, animal fat preserved with mixed-tocopherols (form of Vitamin E), poultry by-product meal (natural source of glucosamine), whole grain corn, corn bran, fish meal (natural source of glucosamine), animal digest, fish oil, dried egg product, potassium chloride, salt, calcium phosphate, calcium carbonate, Vitamin E supplement, choline chloride, L-Lysine monohydrochloride, L-ascorbyl more.....
By no means am I saying Pro Plan Performance(only) does not do a good job on the hounds. I have fed it for years. What I am saying that the cost vs performance is not there.
