got a tom tom?

my wife bought me a tom tom..so i had no excuse how to get my azz home !!!lol but for some reason when i programed my home address in it, it shows destination over a mile and a half from where i live...i'm confused, does it mean i'm suppose to live with the neighbor lady..anybody else have a problem with there accuracy..?

Yes, Tom Tom is noted for being inaccurate with exact locations - we ended up in a field once when we were trying to get to a friend's house. Garmin's mapping system is a little more favorable. They have online updates available too that will help - I think Tom Tom does as well. You may want to check your user's manual.

thru your travels, what would you say there accuracy was out of 20 different addresses..is it off all the time or just rare occassions.

We have a tom tom never had any problems with it, it will bring you within a few feet of the right place.

my garmin and a newer model, drop me off at the house at the beginning of the rd, about a 1/4 mile away and on the opposite side of the rd.

they are not perfect...that's why its always good to have a map with you.

I go into the tools on my Garmin, then, Where Am I, then Save Location, then program it as Home. It is nice coming back from a coon club to know your arirval time. I have all of the clubs I go programed into my favorites. Not because I need directions but because of the estimated arrival time. I then know if I need to speed it up or take my time.

Out on casts, I can find my way back to the club house, or more likely, find my way home from where the guide took us without going back to the club.

Another useful feature in my Garmin is that I Bluetoothed my phone into it. So, all I do is touch the screen and I can talk hands free.

I think PKC is having all the clubs post a physical address so our GPS units will talk us right to the club house.

I have went out of state and drove right to guy's houses. I love my GPS driving through St Louis, Chicago, or Indianapolis. It gives me plenty of warning to get into the right lane.

All in all, I think they are money well spent.

We were going through Atlanta and my 3 year old son started having an astma attack. We used tomtom to find the nearest hospital. Tomtom was wrong. Piedmont hospital was nowhere near where tomtom says it is. Think God for Onstar, they got us to one pretty quick.

doesn't seem to make a difference from the gin mill or the feed mill!!LOL

My Garmin is right every time. Sometimes I know of a better way to get where I am going, but my Garmin will always get me there. It was money well spent.

My Garmin sounds like a lady when it talks to me. But, I always go the way Frances Gail says, not always the Garmin. LOL.

My Garmin is a Nuvi 265W. It has a picture veiwer feature that I have full of pictures of my dogs. I can put it on slide show and watch pictures of my dogs at the club house.

My TomTom has been WONDERFUL - I can't find my way out of a paper bag & it has been RIGHT ON. The only time it gets confused is when there's a detour for construction. I've only had mine a few weeks - but it makes driving AT NIGHT easier because it tells when the next turn will be, well ahead of time so I can be in the correct lane.
It navigated me thru Natitoches, La. last night on my way home from a UKC event in Tullos, La. I NEVER would have made all of the correct turns thru that city's MAZE without TomTom. (going AND coming).

I have one also and I like alot. Try going out to your driveway, then go to favorites and put it in as a new favorite and name it. Thats what I did for mine. I may not have it exactly the way it needs put in but dont have Tom Tom in front of me. Maybe this will help.
