No youre not understanding. There's no optioin to it.

waiting

Sorry, read to quick.

If the other dogs are trailing they have to wait until one barks.
If one is treed they have the option to turn as long as there is still one trailing.

Right but what do you do if they say were not waiting and turn them loose?

Posted by WildwoodEnglish on 11-23-2009 03:46 PM:

waiting

Same would apply as in turning dog loose before others.
Scratched...mishandling.

i may be wrong, and i may well be, but i do not believe you have to wait for the dog to open. The rule states you must cut to a dog opening in that situation. i see no where, where it states you have to wait the 8 minutes on a dog that is "out on trail". I guess for technical purposes, you could wait until the 8 minutes is up, but i don't see why you would want to. I am thinking that having to wait the 8 is unfair to a dog that hunts being locked on leash, when 2 other dogs are out competeing. No, you can cut when dogs are out on trail, when you want to. If they bark, you have to. that is the difference.

Thank you !!!! I hope the two individuals that handled A and B read this because thay refused to believe me. I could have questioned it and went through the big argument and scratched them but these two cause trouble all over but somehow they keep from getting barred. It was like a 45 minute drive back to the clubhouse and I had drawn these same two individuals a couple weeks prior. They scratched me for arguing with them LOL I questioned it and we had to go way back to the clubhouse, I won the question. Some people amaze me.

Okay then Robert why does the 8 minute rule even exist? Youre a MOH right?

if they cut their dogs before a dog opens they will be scratched. tell the judge to question the call & be sure the whole cast knows your question. dont argue or get mad just continue your hunt & let the MOH take care of it when you get back.

Youre exactly right. To be honest I wanted to watch the Cincinnati Bearcat football game so I just withdrew because my dog wasn't looking good anyways. LOL But the point is they were arguing just like they did a few weeks prior to that. Why don't people just read the rules and play the game honestly.
