dog in a tree need ideas

my old dog is 20 feet up in the middle of a swamp. The tree is covered in vines. I had a 12 year old boy climb as far as he could but could not reach her. She is only 2 miles from the house so I will be going back to check on her several times over nite. Any Ideas besides shooting her or cutting the tree down will be helpfull.

Thanks Ted

if she really is only twenty feet up, and over a swamp [soft landing?] why not cut the tree down? Often a tree if felled properly will kinda just lean over slowly anyhow. If she is higher- go get a ladder, some stout spikes to hammer in and use as steps. I have gotten them out of 40 foot deals before, 20 shouldn't be hard. good luck.

shoot the coon out and she will come down ..if no coon ,,take another dog and tie it up near the tree and tease the dog with a dead coon and she should get so wired up she'll find her way back down

if that dont work,,have someone climb up and put a dog harness on her with a 50' rope and people on ground can let her down..

no harness ,,make one out of end of rope ,wrap around body behind front legs and around neck and tie knot and lower dog down,,rope may choke on dog a little but if it is snug where dog cant jerk around in it ,,it will be ok..,,had a dog swallow its toung one night ,,didnt know what was happening ,till dog was laying on ground bugeyed going stiff legged ,,,he would slobber and sling foam all over the place when treeing and his toung would be hangging out a foot'lol,,but it wasnt at that time ..i reached into his mouth and pulled his tound out and he made a big gasp for air,,10 minutes later ,he was back to treeing like nothing ever happened,,,good luck..

your dog will come out the tree when she gets tired or fall out one. being she is in a swamp she will be fine when she falls out. you cut the tree down you apt to sure enough kill her. 20 foot isnt that high i have seen dogs lots higher then that.

depends on what is in the swamp on how soft it will be.

I ran an elec. collar on mine and just shocked her out. She got to were she didn't want in them. My black dog tried to climb tonight. He didn't get very far before the I told him to get out of there and shocked the crap out of him.
The other one had the habbit when I got her. He isn't going to ever get started at it. I wouldn't cut the tree down though. To much chance of a limb hiting her. I would shoot the coon out though.

Use screw in steps like for deer stands. Climb up and let her down with a rope. Or just wait and she will find a way down. I almost forgot, call the police and fire dept. like they do for cats up a tree. Sorry about that, just had to. I have watched as one of mine fell off a bluff and another fell out of a tree. It is a hard thing to see happening and nothing you can do about it.

ill tell you NO DOG is worth climbing and falling out of a tree for.

It is kind of hard to explain what happened last nite but here I go.
Crybaby went up a vine covered tree then crossed over on vines to a tree that was broke off about 20 feet up then had her head down treeing into the hollow broke off tree. The vines would not support the weight of the 12 year old boy that tried to climb to her. I put the boys to bed and went back to the tree and sat close to the tree. Old crybaby came down at 7:00 this morning and is now resting in her kennel. Thanks for the advice Ted
