Send a pic.
look at his teeth, his face, comp, does he act like an old dog? Is the dog calm or act like a pup? Best of all, does he tree coon? If so dont worry about it,have fun!

Really teeth is youre best way of judging a dog. Take a good look and see if they are worn down. Look at a young dogs teeth then look at that dogs teeth and you will have a general idea. Color is not a good way to judge because all dogs varry in color. i have seen 3 year old dogs that look very dingy in color. Also look at the dogs nails. See if they are bright or dull and cracked. most vets can give youy a pretty good idea to go by.

I would say teeth would be the best way to guess at age.

True about color....I have two 5 1/2 yr. old litter mate sisters.(Redbone) One is brighter in color with absoluetly no graying. The other is a duller color with graying muzzle.

I also had a Redbone female that would have been 9 yrs. on 01-01-10 that had just started graying in the face this past year.

teeth are the best to tell age, color would be the last thing i would look at, but could help. I think they way he acts, bone structure, his feet, and overall dispostion could get u close to his age.

Guessin he is a Grade Hound, with no papers, May explain why he can tree a Coon. LOLOLOL
You can only just guess as to his age.
